Well I read through the first page, and that
  2. Ah, baiting. I wonder if anyone will bite.

Oh get over yourself, I was talking about how the average Iraqi (PROBABLY) percieved it, which my Finnish friends obviously was able to see, however you unsurprisingly weren't.

Well, you might be right, I'm not saying that this was what he intended, but clearly his superiors thought something along the same lines, since it was quickly taken down again, no? =)

Only what he did was to make it appear like Iraq was now part of the USA, not a good way to win over the average Iraqi.

Well you're clearly not one of the guys I'm talking about Eldar, you sure know your history and have a good reason to be proud, you're not just proud for the sake of being proud. This is a good thing. The flag of my nation is 800 years old and even has a myth to it, it does hold a certain historical pride for me, but I don't go around sticking it on my car or my wall etc. I would write more, but I'm sorta in a hurry. One PS though: Meta is right, flags go down at dusk, else you'd be flying it for the Devil. (thats the saying here anyway)

Well it's not like a superpower is that easy to ignore, mind you. Call me anti-american, but I just couldn't help picturing... ...this when you wrote that.

I haven't heard it from anyone outside the US, but I can't say for sure.
  9. Because I'm an idiot. But at least I'm a secret idiot ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wait, are you implying that I'm an overt idiot, then? I've never been in a fight in my life, but been around a few, which I tried to stop. Unfortunately, people with that state of mind and a heavy dose of alcohol in their blood are not that easy to reason with, you can guess the outcome I'm sure.

But surely, Eldar, you can see why some people might find it arrogant, that so many Americans wave their flags and chant about how it is the greatest, most free nation in the world, when many of these very same people (but of course not all, mind you) hardly know anything about the freedoms enjoyed in the many, many democracies around the world.
  11. Very well written Commissar, and I agree with you completely seen from a Scandinavian point of view, even us up here in the north can be a bit nationalistic, but all this bumper sticker, flag weaving crap just makes me wanna scream. PS. C'mon Eldar, you can grace a good post like that with a reply, derailment or no?
  12. The words "Freedom" and "Liberty" have been raped by the current US administration, Bush in particular seems to fancy these words. Reminds me of some left wing comic, Bill Maher(sp?) who commented on why the Bush twins weren't over in Iraq fighting daddys war: "Do they hate America, or just Freedom in general?" ^_^
  13. This just can't be right. I easily run 3 kilometers in under 12 minutes. My grandmom could do 50 situps. A lot of people can't do 50 pushups though (unless you don't have to do them all at once). Edit: Oh right, my secret. I once ended up in a fight when I did my army duty, and I got a 'lucky' shot on this guy who started the fight. My left fist rammed his face dead on (a split second after he had kicked my friend in the face) and we both fell over, he backwards and me forwards on top of him, so I basically slammed his head into the pavement. That effectively ended the fight and we ran back to the army grounds without checking to see if the guy was ok. I still don't know what happened to him, but I broke a bone in my hand. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tsk tsk tsk, why all the fighting?
  14. Not running sponsoring! She also apparently goes to the church that is affiliated with the school. I can't say I like it, but I found it hilarious. Seriously though, the workload described by her at this school is worse than taking all AP courses at a Public school, plus they require you to be on not one but two sports teams, both with massive commitments of their own. All my Great Aunt could go on about was how it was 'good for discipline'. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh well... But still, Pam Anderson in church! Is the real Pam Anderson religious btw? I dare say it wouldn't surprise me. Two sports teams, and for the sake of discipline? This sounds more like some right wing Christian/Military Prep School to me. Are they obsessed with not committing sins too, then? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nah, they're just massively corporate and this is basically a prep school where you graduate from here and you can pretty much take your pick of Ivy League colleges and know you'll get in. Tuition for this place is $20k a year too. And no, the sports wasn't for the sake of discipline as far as I could tell, that's what my Great Aunt was saying. She's kind of insane though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's absurd, $20k a year? This is normal in the US? Socialist paradise freaks like us doesn't fancy this at all!

  16. She can try to emphasise "Sue" all she bloody wants imo, the fact is that Pam Anderson is running a Christian Prep School, and I like it.
  17. I don't believe in Christianity, but this one deserves a: OMG! Jesus Christ!
  18. "This is the thread you're looking for." <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  19. Yes, yes. Thoughtcrime is death. No favorite for me, at any rate. I'm against authority (pun NOT intended) and all that jazz. "I play by my own rules, not anybody else's, not even my own." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Having a problem with authority won't do ya good in the army (obviously), I didn't, but I knew some who did.
  20. ^_^
  21. Authority. (sorry Eldar, it was a close run) :D
  22. Why is everyone after Jodo? What did he do to get this amount of attention? :">
  23. Hey, that's my line - or emote at any rate! That makes you worse than that topic stealing SoE - but I suppose that's not as bad as stealing avatars (though he's done that too!). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My apologies dear Jaq, I was just pleased to have avoided a flame fest for once.
  24. ^_^
