I was wondering about that myself. I haven't found anything about that yet. It seems that there should be a scene where Atton finally tells the whole truth.. Have the developers ever mentioned anything about it? Maybe they had a different name for Atton early on that could b considered his "real" name? Royal

Lol, I forgot about the dream year on Dallas. The only game I can think of off hand that was a dream is Mario 2 (not that big of a spoiler lol). At the end the audience is shcoked to see that Mario had dreamt the entire crazy event. I think Howard the Duck had a dream ending as well. The thought of KOTOR II ending like Howard the Duck is not very inspiring come to think of it... Royal

Before the Rain sounds very interesting--I'll be sure to check that out. Thanks for the suggestion. I think, ultimately, that KOTOR II's ending is not in a loop. I think you're also correct in saying there is not much we can be certain about due to the amibguity of the ending. I do think there is a strong implication that the Exile is heading to join Revan

Fell in love with Atton and Disciple
Royal_Nonesuch replied to Jedi Master Revan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yeah, I think almost everyone was a bit distrubed by Disciple. However, his character made the Atton story more entertaining--I think more could have been done with their rivalry though (deleted material improved this slightly). I think Disciple's voice didn't quite match either. Greg Ellis is a good voice actor, but it just didn't quite mesh for me. Nick Katt, however, completely captured Atton. KOTOR 3 needs to expand! Too much great background was setup in KOTOR II not to continue with the female Exile's story. -
Do you mind sharing the name of the book you read with me please Royal_Nonesuch? No problem, the book is called "Iconostasis" by Pavel Florensky. It is primarily about art and has influenced some very famous Russian filmakers--such as Tarkovsky. Regarding the appropriateness of philosophy, I did not intend by any means to start a debate on the nature of philosophy by bringing in those comments. I only wanted to offer an alternative interpretation of KOTOR II's ending and that particular philosopher helped me to do that. After all, KOTOR II is a work of art (as much as film or anything else is) and philosophers' comments on art could certainly apply. It is also Star Wars which has many mystical and philosohphical (as do many works in the sci/fi/fantasy genre) themes that can be further elaborated by connecting them with existing philosophy. That was only one possible interpretation of the ending. I would really like to hear anyone else's theories. I would be very happy if someone could explain the ending in more practical terms, or in more pilosophical ones. The ending needs some discussion. Thanks all, Royal

Fell in love with Atton and Disciple
Royal_Nonesuch replied to Jedi Master Revan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I SWEAR, every time I thought of Kreia and Atton after the beginning of the game, I was thinking "when my character fills the husband role, Kreia will be filling the role of his mother-in-law..." Lol. Kreia is kind of like Andora (sp) from Bewitched--bad in law. Always putting Atton down calling him a fool. Also criticizing the Exile for defending Atton. If the female Exile and Atton got married I can imagine what Kreia would say. Always popping in, mispronouncing his name, trying to get the Exile to use her jedi powers even though she decided not to. Kreia could be like Greg's in-laws on Dharama and Greg though. Better stop this now before I get to the Brady Bunch. Night all, have a good weekend, Royal -

I think this would be the best thread to plug fanfics in lol. Btw, they have all been great. I have to register at Fanfiction.net to write some reviews. Keep up the gord work all. Royal -
Ice-Cold you make some very good points--perhaps I should have thought that through a bit more lol. I have trouble with the ending primarily (as do all) because it fails to account for your party mems. I don;t know, but I like the idea that it was an Empire Strikes Back ending, at least that theory bodes well for the future. Maybe the female Exile will go rescue Atton from a carbonite freeze on Nar Shadda?? Wouldn't mind that--as long as there are no Ewoks! Royal

This is just a strange theory about the ending of KOTOR II that ocurred to me. I found that there were remarkable similarities in the ending and beginning. Badly damaged Ebon Hawk, seemingly dead Kreia, injured Exile. We only got to see the Hawk flying away--not where it ended up. Perhaps the story begins at that point--miners discover the Hawk with the seemingly dead Kreia, injured Exile and T3. We all know what happens next. It could be a loop. Or, something even stranger. I read this very interesting book by a Russian philosopher. He suggested that a dream is ordered towards its end. For example, we think that an alarm clock interrupts a dream, but, this philsopher believes, that the dream ocurred only because of the clock ringing. Now maybe KOTOR II occured in a similar way everything happend because of and surrounding Malachor--there is the beginning, middle and end. Now that I have completely confused myself, what do you think? Is the KOTOR II story in some sort of loop, or a type "dream"? Thanks, Royal

This is pretty random and insane, but I think this is the most appropriate place to post these observations--if it's appropriate at all lol. Anyway, In a sitcom-esque married setting, Disciple/Mical strikes me as the stay-at-home jedi type. Reading history books--researching stuff--wearing sweater vests. Atton would probably always be fighting with in-laws and running up huge pazzak debts. How do you all picture it? I realize I have lost it, it can be traced to the dentist--the pain! Evening all, Royal -
if atton was a pirate would you like him more? Well Atton is a pirate--he stole the Exile's heart

I also loved the scene where Atton asks Bao-Dur if he has any chance with the Exile--hilarious. I was expecting perhaps Atton to ask the Exile, but no. Also when Atton comments in a scene with Disciple, "she likes honest guys". I was surprised, but I never got any reprimands from Kreia about involvement with Atton, or really even Disciple. Did any of you get dialogue to that effect? MAJOR SPOILERS Royal -

Wonder if Atton would fit as a teacher? No, don't think so... Dunno if Atton would fit as a teacher, but Nick Katt could deifnitely play Atton in a live action setting. Maybe that new live action SW series that has been announced (or rumored might be a better term) will be based on KOTOR. Knowing Lucas though, it will probably be about Ewoks and Gungans lol. Royal -

Just what exactly is wrong with guys in that game?? What is this, high school? Minor Spoilers I know what you mean. I kept expecting Atton to say something. Disciple was a good fighter and a fairly trustworthy companion, but you're right Silvershadow, I cannot see him as a legitamte love interest. He was kust too much like Dudley Dooright! Atton on the other hand, was a great character. The smuggler/Jedi romance scenario is very ineteresting--Han/Leia-esque. When I started the game I expected Atton to be Carth part two--a paranoid guy who is fun to argue with--I was surprised. Early in the game Atton asks about the Exile's family. He said something similar to "you must have no family, no husband". It was one of the most inetersting exchanges early in the game. From that point on I was pretty much an Atton groupie lol. It is odd, the female Exile never really gets the opportunity to say anything too positive to Atton or Disciple. For exmaple in KOTOR I when Carth started calling Revan "sweetheart" you could insult him, or ask him to keep calling you that. When Atton flirts, you can really only change the subject or get angry. Are there any exchanges I'm missing where the Exile gets a chance to respond positively to either Atton or Disciple? Thanks all, Royal -

"Did you ever get the cut scene with Atton and Mira, when Atton is spying on the Exile and Disciple meditating together? I just got this one for the first time, so I'm thinking it's also a higher influence with Disciple thing... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> " Yep I got that scene, I think it is a higher influence with Disciple thing. I never got that quote about Atton or Disciple! She commented on the aura, I said it was the force, she replied something along the lines of "Oh, I thought you were on spice". Wonder what caused that? Do you need to have very high influence with Atton or Disciple? Thanks for the info, Btw, The fanfic is great! It's great to read some expansion on the Atton/Exile story--the game was great, but it needed more Atton and Exile story development. I've been meaning to post a fic about KOTOR II myself, just haven't had the time. Anyway, keep up the great work, I'm lookng forward to chapter 6. Royal -

Thanks for the files. "If the shoe fits kid" lol, that sounds like something Atton would say to Disciple. This is an old BP fan site, not so sure iof all the sound files still work, but it has a number of quotes from Harry Senate. http://www.members.tripod.com/boston_public/NickyKatt.htm Royal -

I somehow didn't manage to raise my influence with Atton enough again, so when I picked up Mira, she asked me if there was something going on between me and Disciple. ICK!!!) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Silvershadow, Mira actually asked that??! The horror! Lol, anyway, I admit I have only had the chance to play through LS Female Exile once (so much work these days). I got all of the Atton/Disciple fights I believe and a couple of other Atton scenes--never had Mira ask that though. How do you get her to say that about Atton or Disciple? Thanks for the info, Royal -

Lol, it is funny. Many of the characters Nicky Katt plays are similar to Atton--I suppose that is why they hired him. You should check out "Insomnia" or "Secondhand Lions" with Katt. I can't help, but be reminded of Atton. Atton was formerly Harry Senate? Interesting idea, perhaps the show should be called "Boston Republic"--no wonder Atton is so secretive about his past! After he got fired from Public School teaching he got into smuggling. Royal -
Sorry if I'm missing a joke, or I'm just overlooking something (taking a lot of flu medication this week lol), but what is this "Pazzak" stuff everyone is talking about? Thanks again all, Royal

I finally got them to work! Thanks for all the help, and thanks to everyone who dug those things out. They sounded great. I'll have to think more about the ending, still not sure if it would be the best way to go. Again thanks, Royal -

Thanks much for all the great info Darth 333, unfortunately I do not have the PC version of the game. Is it possible to hear the files without it? If not, it looks like I'll be going out to but a PC copy lol. I was able to read the game script that someone graciously posted. The ending was really a tear jerker, I'm not sure if it would have been better though. Although the way the ending currently stands, Howard the Duck could probably improve it lol. All in all a great game though. Again thanks Darth, Royal
