  1. Handmaiden, like most of the other NPCs, can be very powerful if used and developed properly. Some people, though, like to blame their poor character development choices on some inherent weakness in the game. Of the convertable characters, the one that I've had the most problems with is Bao-Dur, mostly because he was a level 20 Tech before switching over, and as a result he had some low HP. Should've given him Toughness...
  2. 1. Never talked to the Administrator about Zerkhon, 'cause he's right. In the end battle on Dantooine, Dopak (is that his name? can't recall, but he's the one that you give the message to) switches sides. That's the end result of that quest. 2. Dunno but they're really freaking annoying. 3. Just found out about this one yesterday from a kind poster. It's "Moving Meditation", which you only get by completely repairing T3. Apparently, it allows you to heal T3 and regenerate your FP.
  3. Wouldn't surprise me.
  4. Oh, I'll freely admit that I think that there was too much missing about the Exile's story to make it superb; I especially feel that the events of Malachor V should have been dealt with in a much more concrete manner, rather than in loading screens and one optional high-influence convo with Bao-Dur. I mean, heck, the whole game is about the Exile needing to come to grips with his past and put Malachor V behind him ("He carries his destination with him," as Kavar says at one point, thus indicating that he constantly carries the deaths of those at Malachor V with him), and yet that event is implied in the final battle, but never stated. As for the writing of KotOR2 vs. KotOR1, I felt the sequel's was superior to the original. However, the storytelling of The Sith Lords was vastly inferior to the original's. Someone else made the analogy of a brilliant term paper written at the last minute: there are great ideas, and the writing is astounding, but there are too many dropped ideas, too many holes in the subject, etc.
  5. ??? do you perhaps mean the SEC? taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Blast it all! Yes, I mean the Security and Exchange Commision, not the Federal Election Commision. Yes, I am a goober.
  6. Yeah, I thought that she was perfect. She had spunk, she had a full range of emotions, she had a sexy outfit, she was skilled, and she was also pretty smart. Of course, the sexy outfit helped as well (although, did anyone else notice that her undergarments covered her back, while her "clothing" didn't?).
  7. He won't face true consequences until he's brought up on charges. That man did so much creative bookkeeping, it's a wonder the FEC hasn't come down on him yet.
  8. I have noticed that one of the major gripes that people seem to have about KotOR2 is the lack of info given as to what Revan is up to and where he/she is. I find this slightly odd, as the story for the sequel focuses on the Exile, not the former Dark Lord of the Sith. I understand that Revan is a central character in both games, but Obsidian was up-front about the Exile being the main character of the sequel. So, why, then, are so many people ticked off that this game doesn't revolve around Revan? Sure, Revan was cool and all, but the Exile was also an extremely interesting character, one that I bonded with quite a bit more than with Revan. Edit: Drat it all, no formatting in titles! Just imagine that "odd" is italicized.
  9. Kelly Hu was also a Miss America finalist. Grey DeLisle, of course, is best know to RPGers as Viconia De'virr. She did a great job playing a more demure character (kinda hard to think of the Handmaiden as demure, but compared to Viconia, she is). She's also a talented musician.
  10. Man, I just love the soundtrack to Blade Runner. I find it very evocative and fitting to the movie. Not many movies that I can say that about. Especially love the ending theme.
  11. Linky. It's a little deceiving at first, because sometimes the Sentinel gains a feat after a Guardian, and sometimes before, but the net difference is 1.
  12. There's a guy that I work with who loves all things Star Wars. Guess I'll have to ask him at the dept. meeting tomorrow if I can borrow any of the ToTJ comics he might have.
  13. Oh. I thought it was some kind of marsupial.
  14. Well, since there is so much mention of EU material in KotOR2, I've been reading what I can find online about the Jedi of the Old Republic. Perhaps the most accessible has been the KotOR2 Chronicles that LucasArts put up and GameBanshee reposted (very nice since I can never get the LucasArts flash page to open up). Though the Chronicles are rather cursory, I have noticed some discrepencies between the portrayal of the Jedi in them and the portrayal of the Jedi in KotOR1 & 2. 1. First, the Jedi of this era seem to be more warrior than diplomat. Heck, about 50 years before TSL they institute martial law on Onderon, and use military force quite often. So, why, then, do the Jedi of KotOR 1 & 2 act as though pacifism is the only true path on the Light Side? Seems like you wouldn't say that Nomi Sunrider, Cay Qel-Droma, or Arca Jeth were afraid to use violence. 2. The old Jedi don't seem to have any rules about romantic entanglements. Ulic Qel-Droma and Nomi Sunrider were romantically involved at some point, and Nomi had a child from her dead husband. So where does the prohibition against love come from? 3. On e-Paranoia.com, I learned that the Jedi Guardians answer directly to the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic. If this is the case, then why was there ever an issue about the Jedi becoming involved in the Mandalorian Wars? After all, the Republic was under direct attack by the Mandalorians, and as the Republic army/navy/whatever was involved in fighting them, it makes sense that the Jedi Guardians would be as well. Anyway, these are a few questions that I have. I'm posting them in this forum as there are no game spoilers, yet I feel that these issues have direct bearing on the story of KotOR 2 (and 1 as well). Am I misinterpreting the old Jedi? Anyone with more knowledge of Star Wars and the Expanded Universe than me (which is probably just about everyone) who feels like clearing these issues up, please, do so.
  15. The worst part of that bit was seeing Kelly Hu die. Geez, that woman is gorgeous!
  16. Not surprising, since Sentinels and Consulars both get the same BAB as Guardians, and Sentinels are only one feat behind Guardians.
  17. Rush job, most likely. Just like with Vash. Doesn't really make sense otherwise, unless MCA's been reading a lot of George R. R. Martin lately (who kills main characters off all the time for no reason, after making you fell that they are important).
  18. He can wear the Miner Uniform that you get on Peragus. It has Defense of +1 and allows some underlays.
  19. Well, considering that video games are a primarily visual experience (dealing mostly with images rather than words), I find that cinematics are much more effective in maintaining the "feel" of the game.
  20. Phosphor, in the movie, Deathstrike has one line ("Why are you here?", said to the "janitor"). In fact, I don't think they even call her Deathstrike in the film, just Yuriko.
  21. I acquiesed my first time, and still had them all die.
  22. Combat was one of the best games ever, IMO. It's funny how I have found those 20-year-old games have better replay value than the majority of modern games. I still play Galaga, Centipede, Asteroids, Space Invaders, etc., regularly, while many newer games that I have sit on their shelves and collect dust.
  23. I found Barab Ore once on Onderon pt. 2; however, as I kept reloading to find out what else I might get, I never got it again. Pontite is better, though, as it also gives a +2 to Charisma.
  24. It's great fun.
