  1. ^That's ok. Secretly this can still be the "it sucks" thread. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Heh, and it will be. If not, there are other methods, but I bet that this thread will keep itself alive. What's sad here is that Obsidian will lose credibility. Even if it was LA's decision.
  2. Well said indeed, Muad'Dib. I think that covers what alot of us feel about this.
  3. I have a simple question: Why was it decided to abandon your PC and international Xbox userbase and focus solely on the US version? Why did you not go the route of say Electronic Arts who hold on to their titles until they are ready on all platforms?
  4. This thread has a purpose, and it is our only method of voiceing out opinion on this subject. It has to remain, it has to stay constructive and civil, so valid comments may reach Obsidian and be passed to LucasArts. This is for all us PC gamers and European Xbox'ers out there. So please keep it civil. I know Adria is not the bad guy here, but she has enough on her hands right now. Anyway: As I have already stated, if Obsidian have indeed been at work on the Xbox version longer than the PC version, then they should have said it from the start, instead of stating "simultanious release" up until this week. The wait is bearable: What is really upsetting is the fact that we were lied to. I hope Obsidian stands up to LucasArts on this, as it will hurt Obsidian's credibility considerably.
  5. Good question, Feza. Will the PC owners will be compensated for this?
  6. In terms of this release problem EU would be the European Union. Where I am sure KOTOR2 will be pirated by the millions after this treatment by LucasArts.
  7. Quite so, Adria. We have been misled, no other way of looking at it. Now, I know you devs are reading this thread, and I implore you to talk to LucasArts, get them to see that this is wrong and that you (as a post by Akira would lead one to believe) disagree with this policy of favoring one particular group of gamers on a particular platform and a particular location, when we were all promised a simultanious release. I can say from experience, that this policy will not increase KOTOR2's sales figures, it will decrease them, as (Xbox, at first) gamers around the world will find other means of procuring this game, and thereby exacting a small measure of retribution against the people they feel are responsible...you(&LA). I know you cannot purposely slow down development on one platform, but when Lucasarts had deleberately started development on the Xbox version of KOTOR2 before the PC version, then they should not have promised a simultanious release. I will not get into insults here, as I want this to be a valid comment, but Mike Gallo and Lucasarts have no credibility as far as I am concerned, and I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way. You will lose alot of money and respect on this LA(and by extension, Obsidian), people will not trust you again, and you will have noone to blame but yourself. If you can live with that, fine. But I think the number of "alternately aquired" copies will skyrocket from this, and you know? For the first time in my life, I do not see that as a wrong thing. You made a promise: You broke that promise, so why should gamers keep their promise to pay for your product? Ask yourself that question, and decide what you want: A happy fanbase that encompasses all gamers on the two platforms and globally? Or an American Xbox fanbase that will be overshadowed by the outcry of all the people you lied to?
  8. Thank you Adria, but it is too late. I was excited by the simultanious release as you well know, and I just cannot abide by this sort of misinformation and US favoritism. LA made a promise, that promise was to release the Xbox and PC versions simultaniously. They have broken that promise. I made a promise, in turn that I would buy the game at a store. I am breaking that promise now, the Mod-chip will take care of the rest.
  9. Well, they may not have gotten everything right, but they did manage to get in references to key points such as the Sith War and Exar Kun. I don't think it degrades the game. Change? Here is the list of what is considered cannon. Movie Movie novilization Novels Comics Games SW:KotOR is at the bottom of what can be consider to be cannon, if you want to argue about Rookie One blowing up the first Death Star .... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, let's please not get into canon discussions here guys. They just lead to flaming and locking of threads. And Rebel Assault was just an arcade game, so it's not to be taken into the Star Wars timeline. You will notice that none of the Rogue Squadron games have been made canon, either. But anyway: the Tales of the Jedi are canon, and I'm sure Obsidian will make a game that won't disrupt the timeline or distort facts, have faith in them Now, can we get back to Tales of the Jedi? What parts of Iziz do you think Obsidian might explore? Do you think we might end up doing a side-quest in the tomb of Freedon Nadd?
  10. I am sorry, my mistake. Well that is a difference of opinion here, I guess. I think Bioware did good with KOTOR, and truth be told, they had to design the game so it would look familiar to people who hadn't read Tales of the Jedi. If they had popped in say: a mining ship from Exis Station, then noone would recognise it. Now with the SIth capital ships and fighters in KOTOR, everyone I've seen play it for the first time have been able to go "Those are the bad guys". Again: I'd say the same thing applies to the "Darth" prefix. They needed it, so the casual Star Wars fan who was going to play KOTOR would be able to go "Ok, that's the villain" Personally, I can forgive them this as IMO KOTOR turned out great anyway. And according to SW lore, the Jedi Council apparently revised the Jedi Code after the first Sith War, thinking that it was having emotions and indulging them that led so many Jedi to the Dark Side(I really wish I could remember the reference here, I believe it was in one of the old Tales of the Jedi RPG sourcebooks, which aren't available anymore). I don't remember the word, but the emphasis of the old code was to let you know you have emotions, and dealing with them. So just because you felt passion did not mean you should shun it, you should just not let it rule you.(If someone has this source book and could look it up, it'd really be great) And I'll agree: One of the better aspects of Tales of the Jedi was the tragic romance of Ulic Qel-Droma and Nomi Sunrider, the conclusion of Redemption was just done so well...very emotionally engaging. And romance wasn't banned from the order after the war, but it was not encouraged either, due to the emotions attached. So in time, I suppose it just became a dogma within the Order.
  11. Of course, how could I forget that one? I wonder what accent it'll be in then? Hehehe, I'd like to see a Huttese version
  12. Hmm...well to go with a KOTOR one, you can't beat "I would stand by your side gladly. As your lover and apprentice" Or HK's "Expletive: Dammit Master. I am an assasination droid, not a dictionary" alas I fear we will also be stuck with the inevitable: "muucho shaaka pakka" In terms of Original Trilogy, I'm pretty sure that either "You don't know the power of the dark side" or "give in to your anger" could make an appearence. Or for all us romantics: "I love you...I know"
  13. Oh no, I think you misunderstand. Remember in KOTOR when Jolee Bindo tells you how he lost his wife? That was during the first Sith War, where Exar Kun was the Dark Lord. The first Sith War happened roughly forty years before KOTOR took place, so there would be no conflict with the content of KOTOR2, as KOTOR2 is 55 years after Tales of the Jedi. I am particularly looking forward to seeing what Obsidian is doing to the city of Iziz on Onderon and the moon of Dxun, as they were both prominent locales in the TotJ series. There are interesting bits in there that could be brought up, like say the tomb of the fallen Jedi Freedon Nadd, who ruled Onderon around 200 years before the KOTOR era, if I recall correctly, and was one of the first Dark Jedi to subjugate an entire population single-handidly, by using the dark side of the Force. If any of you are interested, the Tales of the Jedi are still a great read, engrossing plot, good art and well-defined characters. Amazon still has them listed.
  14. Of course they aren't. I'm one of those who just loved the references to Exar Kun and the Qel-Droma family in KOTOR. Thought they added wonderful mood. Maybe we'll be able to find our way to the tomb of Freedon Nadd?
  15. I'm with Nur Ab Sal here. Having read the Tales of the Jedi, I can't wait to see Obsidian's take on Iziz and Onderon.
  16. Nice one as ever, Adria. Bless your snooping skills
  17. Actually I find it quite the opposite. It was the very fact that KOTOR was fully voiced that drew me so completely into the game-world. I tried out NWN and BGII afterwards, and I just found them...lacking, because they weren't fully voiced. I hope and pray that KOTOR II will be full voice, but then again: I'm pretty sure it will be. I just hope the NPC cast is as good as it was in KOTOR...though I still think Jennifer Hale stole the show Yup: I'm a Bastila fan, and proud of it.
  18. PC I've never owned a console, and frankly I can't see myself buying one in the forseeable future. Besides, I like the high-res graphics of my PC and my Trinitron monitor, better than an Xbox and my cheap TV. heh
  19. Nebulous? Sure. But I'm saying that they should at least give you the option to act as you will. If you want to romance an NPC, then the option should be there. If it's a "scoundrel" like Mira seems to be, she might respond more to a straight-forward approach than the soft touch. Personally I was never abusive towards Bastila in the first game, I was thinking: "Well, maybe ticking off the Jedi isn't a good idea". There's a point where she tells your character that she's come to depend on you, and if you ask her to elaborate just a little bit, there'll be a piece where she says: "I..you know I can't feel that way about you, about any man, it isn't permitted. I am a Jedi, I must resist these temptations. But I still want to consider you a friend. We could never be anything more though, that...that isn't allowed." The way she said it; she sounded sad at the fact that she "wasn't permitted" to feel it, I was genuenly shocked. So I think the romance with her played out fine, just don't be overly rude, teasing is ok, in a mild form. Worst moment in the game for me: Facing her at the Temple. Best moment: When she told Revan she loved him. Anyway; the point I was trying to make was that the option should be there, for you to get "involved" with the NPC's you like. Seeing as none of the NPC's that have been revealed so far for KOTOR II seems to be under-age, then multiple-romance options would be a blast. And completely in tune with the Classic Star Wars feel. If one of the romances evolves to a deeper level, based on your actions in the game, then all the better "true love lasts forever", heh.
  20. Personally I thought that the romances were the best aspect of the original KOTOR. They were well-concieved, believable(I.E. the characters didn't simply swoon at the sight of you) and thouroughly enjoyable to play through. Especially Bastila's character benifitted tremeandously from the romance plot. She might seem like a cold and heartless woman at first, but when you get to know her, you realize that it's all just a front, that she's really sweet on the inside. The most rewarding part of the game, was still when Bastila finally said "I love you too, with all my heart." to my PC. I thought that was an even more immersing moment than the final fight against Malak. So, please Obsidian: Write in-depth romances for KOTOR 2, both for male and female players(and animate a kiss this time) I just wouldn't be Star Wars, if there wasn't a romance in there...
  21. I think she looks pretty much the epitome of a Jedi. Especially given the blue lightsaber, and the white robes. The embodyment of the Light Side... That being said: If she's one of the people who idolizes your character, then you will be able to pull her into the darkness with you...if that's what you want.
  22. Well, Bastila wasn't exactly forthcoming when you first met her...She was pretty much an ice-queen. But, she warmed. And personally I don't think "The White-woman"(jeez, let's have a name Obsidian ) seems icy. Calm, and composed, yes. But not icy. If it happens, it'll probably take time to develop. As would probably work best storywise.
  23. I voted for KOTOR II. I'm more into story-driven games than FPS games these days. Not that all FPS-games are devoid of story, I just like the additional depth that the RPG-games provide.
  24. Hmm. Then she would have probably dissapeared along with Revan, and undergone some sort of transformation. I don't think it's likely. I'd like to see her back, but I do hope that Obsidian won't make her a villain...I couldn't bear that. I find the white-haired woman intruiging in her own right, and will definately be keeping my eyes out for more concept art and information about the character. It would be nice if she was voiced by Jennifer Hale, in a different accent than the one she used for Bastila, though Here's hoping for a romance between the male PC and the white-haired woman Though I do hope that, Obsidian will do Bioware one better, and actually give closure to this romance... The conclusion of the first game was alright, but should've been given one additional notch up. You get to tell Bastila you love her, and then nothing happens. It's not reflected in the ending in any way. I really hope Obsidian will try to expand on the romance-plot in KOTOR II, after all: What's a good Star Wars story, without a great (Han & Leia -style) romance?
  25. I do enjoy the artwork. I'm really interested in finding out more about the white-haired woman. Personally, I'm not too keen on the new Sith look. It doesn't nearly convey as much threat and darkness, as Darth Revan's mask did in the first game. Even if we only saw glimpses of the Dark Lord(in his/her full glory, that is). Personally I think Bioware dod a wonderful job on the artwork in the first game, but mind you alot can happen on The Sith Lords from now, and until the game is released. I remember that the early concept drawings of Bastila, from the first game looked nothing like the final version. Which was beautiful, by the way. I'm hoping that we will get to see more concept art from Obsidian soon, I'm very interested in how "The White-Woman" evolves...
