Hmmm are you pursuing a wide eyed farmers daughter Ros?

I have lost all respect of law enforcement officers in the past few years. I've found them to be badge heavy, abusive of their authority, ignorant of the laws they are actually enforcing, and far more interested in expedience than actually doing justice. The Shelby County Sheriffs office seems ok but the Memphis PD is little more than an armed gang with badges and uniforms. As for other countries I've only dealt with the police in Japan & Mexico other than the US. The Japanese police struck me a very polite and professional. The only time I've ever been arrested was in Mexico in Tijuana. Those guys were a*****s. They were not interested in hearing what happened, they just arrested every white face in the bar. All that happened was that we got taken to the police station, then taken to the border and turned over to the border patrol. They didn't care because we were all military so they told us to go back to Pendleton and don't come back. I always joked about that later. Anyone can get kicked out of a bar, I got kicked out of a country! As for who has the best police? I don't know. It's not the US though. Some PDs are good, some are not. I'd say the bigger the city/department the worse it will be.

I've been thinking of reinstalling that, any worthwhile mods I should know about? I'm using mainly GEM mods. I like subtle gameplay enhancements. I don't go for weapon or armor mods because they are usually way too strong and it throws the game out of balance. I want it to be a little difficult. I want the caves and dungeons to be dark, I don't want to have to look at the time to see if it's day or night, and if the game has torches, I want them to be useful. I also use a mod the doubles the leveling requirement. I don't want to be level 20 before I've even got good and into the main story line. The way I play these games is by coming up with a concept character and then role playing the concept. My PC now is a Nord that hates magic and refuses to use it or any enchanted weapons or armor. The next time I think I might try a druid type player that relies only on alchemy and wooden weapons and hide armor.

Had a great time yesterday. My GF has an apartment right on Overton Park in Memphis. It's on the 5th floor with a balcony that faces west so we had a great (if distant) view of the fireworks over downtown & the river. I wish I could have brought my pup but fireworks and dogs do not mix. Especially off the ground floor. Going on the road to Louisville next week. We won a bid to build a public access DAS at the executive airport so I'm doing the layout and walk down. She wanted to come with but I asked if she would be willing to stay at my place while I'm gone and keep the dog company. Sometimes bringing him is a lot of hassle and he does not like boarding much. If you ever get a chance to get back with an ex, you should at least try. Absence (and a series of bad relationships that make you both realize you were a good fit) do make the heart grow fonder.

America sucks, capitalism is evil and needs to be replaced with socialism, Americans are polluting the planet and need to die, Australia is the best! Ooops... wrong alt! Kidding of course! Happy Independence Day to all my brothers and sisters out there !

Got home late, slept late, drinking coffee now and getting ready to fire up Skyrim. I just started it for the first time yesterday. So far it's just about the best game ever. Going over to GF's apartment later for dinner & fireworks. Life is good!

Now THAT's a good day! Except for the root beer part.

Rays take two of three from the tigers. Then they go on a little vacation of sorts, three games in Houston.

Wow looks like the US has been spying on everyone, not just it's own citizens. http://www.cnbc.com/id/100854854. So President Obama, tell me, you said you were going to restore the USAs standing in the world. How's that going? Hmmm did I just hear a drone fly over?

Hitting the road tomorrow for work. I've got a meeting with a potential customer in Louisville, then it's back to Dyersburg for throughput testing on three more schools, then an e-meeting with my business partners on Friday. Busy busy. See you guys next weekend.

No. Just.... no.

A sophisticated chap like Wals, it shouldn't be too hard. There's a biker bar in Covington where hookups between biker chicks and non-biker guys are common enough. The drinks are on me if we all split a plane ticket for him! Hmmm, starting a "lil obsidianites slush fund" to pay for things like this might be a good idea. That's what we said when we all thought about getting mail order brides, but that idea also went nowhere. I think Oby can help us with that! You get a line on a Russian mail order bribe we'll get him to go check her out!

I've got women. Just none I can allow myself to go near for fear of triggering a lifestyle apocalypse. I've always thought that myself. Now I'm rethinking that notion. Maybe a lifestyle apocalypse would not be so terrible if there are better things on the other side of it.

I don't know what Obama is. Moderate certainly does not come to mind. I would not call him a liberal in the classic sense of the word either because he does not give a damn about individual rights and is nothing short of hostile to anything resembling freedom. I guess the two words I'd use are authoritarian statist. But hey, he once said that all money was the property of the government before he became President. Given everything he has said and the people he has surrounded himself with (Van Jones anyone) if you are surprised by anything he's done then you were not paying attention.

I just got home from taking her home. Wow, I had no expectations going into this. I don't know if she planned it out this way but I made it easy for her if she did. She actually broached the subject of coming back to my place. She always loved my dogs. We talked about how Tommy is doing and she said she'd love to see him again. I took that as a big hint. She spent Saturday night, Sunday all day and Sunday night with me. We had the "where are we now" talk this morning. I told her to look at it this way, we never really split up, we just took a break. It was a three year break but still. Since I got divorced in 2004 I've dated five women including her with anything one might call seriousness. I've run them all off when they started getting "too serious". Maybe it's time I stopped doing that. You know what is really sexy? Black hair, blue eye, a white top, blue jeans and white heels. You know what's even sexier? Taking her home two days later wearing only those jeans and one of your t-shirts!

Ros's dating supremacy, counted by the amount of dates, is now under a firm assault by the veteran Guard Dog, who dominates all in the length of his... individual dates. Must have been the phase of the moon or something, I don't think I've ever gotten a booty call from someone I wasn't "going steady" with, never mind two from two different women in the same weekend. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that, I guess. Also, work computer's stalling every minute or so. I think this is 5 years old, it certainly is the largest and heaviest laptop I've ever had the displeasure of carrying. Maybe GD scores a few extra points for dating responsibly, recycling his dates. Ros seems to be into the disposable dates I don't think I've got anything on Ros in THAT department! Besides, my periods of "activity" have been few and far between the last year.

Taking my old girlfriend out to dinner turned out to be a lot more complicated than I expected. She's still here! This is what Seinfeld called a dating decathlon. Not complaining mind you. It turned out much better than expected!

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't republicans essentially in favor of PRISM?It doesn't seem to me like there is much of a split in political circles. They were indeed. Originally it was intended to spy on Americans communicating with potential terrorists overseas. I was against from the get-go. Now it spying on us and yes the republicans are all for it for the most part. The only thing that is more despicable and repugnant than a republican is a democrat. Every two years I have to hold my nose and pick one of them and I usually choose the lesser of the two evils.

Stop, turn around, and go look at the documentation of the IRS stuff. That was handled 1 or two offices TOTAL and done without the presidents knowledge of authorization. The assumptions that it went to the presidential level was created by Fox and friends to get viewers hooked and ideologically on their side. Wrong: http://www.masslive.com/politics/index.ssf/2013/06/irs_employees_say_supervisors.html And while the president himself probably did not give the order I refuse to believe for a second he was not aware of it at least after the fact. You and KP would be wailing and gnashing your teeth if this was a republican president and the IRS was targeting liberals. Like I always say, you guys are an example of everything wrong with this country. You are willing to accept, even endorse to most horrifying malfeasance as long as it's "your guy" doing it.

There are so many posts in this thread that prove just how right that article Alan linked in the OP really is! -
Apparently no pitchers showed up at US Cellular Park on Friday. The Indians and White Sox played a double header and between both games combined there were 46 Runs, 59 Hits, and 2 errors. Please tell me they were using the batting practice pitching machine!

Under other USA regimes he might not have been safe but under the Obama presidency its highly unlikely, I would say almost impossible, that the USA would send a special force raiding party into Ecuador to kidnap Snowden. That's why he will be safe as that's the only way I can think he would be forced to leave Ecuador. But as Walsie mentioned Ecuador risks economic penalties from the USA and that will effect the poor in Ecuador. Not the president who is enjoying his moment of anti-American sentiment in the limelight Are you freaking serious Bruce? As an American I have NEVER felt more threatened by ANY administration than this one. Just a few weeks ago this man asserted that it would be perfectly legal for him to use a drone to kill an American citizen on US soil, not due process, no judicial review, if he determined they were "involved in terrorism". Yes, they took it all back afterwards when they saw how upset everyone got. And of course his idea of what terrorism is has nothing in common with what most folks think it is. He has talked about raising a "new national security force, as well trained and as well armed as the military". Really? Who the hell do you think he means this force to fight? He is using the IRS to shut down political speech he does not like. In 2009 he joked about auditing his "enemies". In 2013 we found out he was really doing it. And that, all that is nothing when now we find out he has turned with massive NSA spying apparatus at the people he really distrusts: us. I would not be surprised if we hear that Snowden committed "suicide" any day now. I make light about politics but I want you to know I am being serious right now. We may get past all of this. We may throw that man and his miserable cadre of authoritarian freedom-hating statists out of office some day. Or we may not. But if there is a schism, if the country does break up, or God forbid, if there ever is a second Civil War, history will record that is began with him.

Taking ex girlfriend out to dinner tonight. For some reason I'm a little nervous. And I never get nervous about anything.
