According to Framatome the Chinese have a leaking nuclear reactor It's a little disconcerting to think the same people that make those cheap (describing quality) trashy tools they peddle at Harbor Freight are also running nuclear reactors and bio (weapon?) research labs. Of course the CCP will no doubt insist the fission gas being released came from the USA (probably New Jersey) and all their reactors are fine. And some folks will even believe it.

New Outer Words? That is very cool. Well I haven’t actually played the first one but everybody said it was very good.

I grilled a small pork chop and made a salad for dinner last night. I also made one of these. Oh my God was it good.

this got me curious how many other Super Bowl QBs has been drafted by the MLB. Turns out it was more than you think. John Elway of course but that one’s easy. Russel Wilson, Tom Brady, Kerry Collins, Ken Stabler, Colin Kaepernick, Dan Marino, Steve McNair, Jim McMahon, and Doug Williams all were drafted by a MLB team at some point.

I don’t really care what she said. She can be as offensive as she likes. She is just another filthy rat in the filthy sewer. She can tell the truth or she can lie out of her rat ass. I don’t really care about the words of rats. It’s the hypocrisy of it all just annoys the ****ing hell out of me. Edit: you know I didn’t think it was possible but I might actually be getting more misanthropic as I get older

Ilihan Omar and her “squad” are shrieking about “free speech” after her latest bout of stupid words verbal diarrhea opened her up to a lot of criticism. Freedom of speech for them means they cannot be criticized for what they say. Ironically she was one of ones calling for criminal prosecution for “hate speech”. Typical left winger . Liberty is only what they define it and it’s only for whom they decide can have it.

I just saw on the news celebrity cruise lines had their first post opening all vaccinated crews. And two people on it tested positive. Is it just me or is it starting to sound like the Masque of the Red Death. Only it’s not that red or all that deadly.

Just got back from the vet with Sunny. Her bloodwork is off again. Have to increase the medicine dosage. But she still acting healthy and happy and has a great appetite so makes me happy. She took a long drink of water and is now crashed out on her bed by the window. I think she’s got the right idea. I’m going to stretch out on the couch with a book.

I don’t think criminal charges against Trump or anyone have been ruled out. But the farther we get from the event the less likely they become. In any case that was not what the guy in the link was discussing. He was clearly talking about arrests as a prevention measure. Now, obviously this is not going to happen. Such an arrest would never stand up in court. But at the same time red flag laws should never stand up in court and they do all the time. No one is ever completely safe from the hubris of the state. Rights are a paper shield.

On 1/6 Trump gives a speech in which we says “let’s walk over to the capital and let them hear you” or words to that effect. I doubt he meant for them to do what they did but well they did it. Nobody is going to argue that he is at the very least partially responsible for what followed. But it’s been decided he is not criminally responsible. So that’s that. No the former director of FBI Counter Intel under Obama is suggesting he and a number of Congress members be arrested. Not for what happened on January 6. It’s to Make sure they don’t do it again. Yahoo tried to clean that up a little bit with the headline but if you read what the man actually said he’s talking about preemptively arresting people who haven’t done anything yet to keep them from doing something. That in itself would be unremarkable except a few weeks ago the Biden nominee for the BATF one David Chipman suggested people who are turned down for a firearm purchase because of a background check problem (yes they do that in all 50 states in case you are wondering) should be “arrested on the spot” . His reasoning being that they will just try to get a firearm illegally And commit crimes later. His exact quote was “while at ATF I conducted studies involving people who failed background checks to determine how many later committed crimes with a gun. Many did. This is a perfect opportunity to arrest people before committing crimes rather than responding after the fact.“ Nice. We’re going to start arresting people before they commit crimes. Or at least people of one particular political leaning think we should. Small wonder they favor nationwide red flag laws. A process in which the law enforcement tell you “you can have your freedom and property returned once you prove to us you will not commit a crime in the future“. I could definitely see the people like some in the Trump administration considering that also. Incidentally the president of Nicaragua just ordered his police to arrest all of the challengers to his office in the next election. Trump will LOVE that. Come to that didn’t Joe Biden just give him a boatload of money?

Defender was much better in the arcade. I remember how disappointed I was when I saw how Pac-Man looked on the Atari. I was too young to understand the difference between 8 bit and 64 bit graphics LOL. Asteroids in space invaders worked just fine though. And who could forget this one

I remember when the Atari 2600 was invented. Video games only existed in arcades and you had to go there to play them. Or at the jiffy store.

The new list of the top 10 most livable cities in the world Kudos to NZ and Japan for putting two in the top 10. Australia said “hold my Fosters “ and got four! The only city I've been to on this list was Tokyo. And I only spent one night there. I remember it was really, really, seriously big. I noticed Covington TN didn't make the list. Curious. I'm sure it was just an oversight!

Yes it is definitely a long-term play. I remember watching those TV shows about “flipping houses“. If the market is just right you can get away with something like that but there’s a really excellent chance you’re going to wind up holding a very expensive bag.

A few years ago I investigated mortgaging one of my properties to have a house constructed on it to increase its value. The total cost would’ve been about $90,000 for a modest 3br 2b 900-1050 square foot home. I’ve picked that idea up again recently only with all the damned COVID-19 related shortages The cost is now closer to $150,000. Ouch. The lot by itself has to be around $60,000 in value. So the break even point of sale would be around $210,000 assuming. That would put it well above the median home price in Brownsville Tennessee and probably beyond the reach of most of the potential buyers. Interest rate on a 30 year fixed are still pretty low but that is going to be changing real soon. That’s something that could easily happen during the time it takes to build the house and get it ready for sale. I guess the thing to do right now is nothing. Wait a few years and let’s see what happens. Right now that particular lot only cost me $680 a year in taxes and a couple of hours of my time a month for landscape maintenance.
