  1. OK, BLM is not an organization no. Or at least it is not well organized. But it DOES have leaders, founders, supporters, and of course spineless supplicants and ass lickers. No shortage of those. Personally I was pretty neutral on it last year because they DID have a legit gripe. I was a little put off when a black cop was murdered during one of those non-violent protests where people were killed and stuff burned down. Not a word about HIS life. I guess his life didn't matter. I was amused by the whole Patrice Cullors business. They certainly freaked out and turned on one of their own "founders" when they found out she had a nice house near white people. Can't be a good communist that way can she? Don't really care but did find it amusing. But this business... they are flat out praising evil. They can hide behind the polite fiction that they are not an "organization" but someone is running their Instagram account and not one so called supporter has uttered a word to refute any of it. And by they way my "limited" story that I linked had their statement in it's entirety. That is specifically WHY I links THAT story. The USA Today, ABC News, and CNN versions omitted the part where they stood by the Cuban government and printed in full their blaming the whole thing on the US. Go figure. And no, Cuba does NOT have an "objectively good" health system. I'm curious how many Cubans you personally know. Oh if you are connected to the government or live in Havana you will likely be OK. Otherwise if you need something more than stitches or an antibiotic you are in trouble. My first wife's parents were Cuban. They fled to the US in the 1960's. Her uncle was executed by the Castro Regime along with thousands of other for voting in the 1958 election after Castro and the rebels demanded that all Cubans boycott. Praising the Cuban Government is almost no better than praising Hitler and the Nazis or Stalin and the Bolsheviks.
  2. I thought the embargo was stupid and because of it we’ve missed out on numerous opportunities to undermine the government for the last 20 years. But BLM coming out in support of the “revolutionary government” after all the misery they have caused in Cuba, east Africa, and Latin America is worse than contemptible. They don’t give a rat turd about black lives and never did. They are all about Marxism and nothing else. Past time the polite lie was dispensed with. **** them.
  3. BLM releases statement blaming the US for Cuban protest. Praises Cuban government. 207 sovereign states on this planet. Cuba has normal trade and relationships with 205 of them but it’s all our fault? And praising the Cuban government? F—k BLM. F—k everyone in it. F—k everyone who supports it. F—k everyone who knelt to it.
  4. I know a perfect solution to this Cuba problem. Cuba has a lot of people who want liberty. We have a lot of people who want oppression (antifa). Let's trade! A capitalist solution to a communist problem!
  5. @Gromnir exactly when did you think the protesters NEEDED support? Before after the police started beating the hell out of them, arresting them, or disappearing them? Whatever. You know exactly what I’m talking about and your intentional verbal obstinacy he has become tiresome.
  6. Oh I’m sorry has he been criticizing the police cracking down on protest? I must’ve missed that. I certainly caught Bernie Sanders milquetoast asking the government to “refrain” from violence after the beat down was all over. Certainly not a goddamn word out of him in support of protesters. The Democrats socialist of America which count a number of democrat congressmen in their ranks released a statement that they are standing firm with “the revolution”. That’s the Cuban government in case anybody’s not too clear on what that bull**** is. Keep in mind, Biden is not “their guy“. But he needs their cooperation. Which brings us back to my original point.
  7. That was two days ago all the protests were going on. In the two days later when the police are beating the living hell out of everyone in sight and arresting everyone including foreign journalists nary a word from the “leader of the free world”. Nothing I’ve found anyway. Of course no US president in recent memory can honestly lay claim to that title. But… they did say this so if you’re coming from Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, you’re more than welcome. But if you’re fleeing from the workers paradise of Cuba they don’t want you. Make of that what you will. I certainly have my own opinions on the reasons.
  8. I feel bad for Joe Biden. His natural inclination would be to support the demonstrators in Cuba. But he dares not do it because quite a lot of the Democrats he needs (and who already don’t like him) are quietly sympathetic to the Cuban government.
  9. I doubt it. That will happen regardless of what employers do. We are over 10% inflation right now and it’s predicted to double in five years (by the WSJ). That alone is going to drive up wages even as it sabotages buying power. Companies that employ minimum wage workers don’t long-term plan for labor costs. I think this is purely reactionary because they need to incentivize a limited workforce to come to them. Although this will probably auto correct as extended unemployment benefits begin to expire. One thing the lockdown of the pandemic he did accomplish is demonstrate peoples ability to earn money on their own by participating in the “gig economy”. I’ve used Instacart a few times. Maybe more than a few times. Going to the grocery store is not one of my favorite activities. I’m more than happy to shop online and pay a few bucks to have somebody deliver it to me. It’s usually the same guy that does my deliveries and I’ve gotten to know him so I tip him well. I don’t know how busy he is but he’s probably making more money delivering groceries any ever would be stocking them or cashing them out. I think services like that, door dash, Uber are a beautiful thing.
  10. That might work on spiders but not so sure about ghosts LOL
  11. Actually I was reading that a number of fast food places are incentivizing new employees with over $15 an hour pay an additional benefits that were unheard of for minimum wage employees like tuition assistance. They are doing that because there is a labor shortage. Basic economics. When there is a shortage of widgets the cost of widgets goes up. When multiple buyers are competing for a limited pool of widgets the cost of widgets goes up.
  12. Of course there is a break over point. Two words. Eastern Airlines. The strike is not what put them in the grave but it’s more than fair to say it was the straw that broke the camels back.
  13. Yeah I had never heard of that part either. I think it’s some colloquial term
  14. It was a missed opportunity
  15. I have to say... I was disappointed to see all of the characters on the box only to find out all their cereals are not mixed in the box! I thought we were getting Frosted Flakes, Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, Frosted Mini-Wheats, Sugar Smacks, and Fruit Loops all in one bowl! Apparently we have different ideas of what the words "inclusive" and “together” really mean!
  16. I can confirm all this is true: I love watermelon. I grow it every year in my garden. I still have 7 left on the vine. Those are all mine!
  17. Meh, labor is a widget. It has a monetary value just like everything else. If the labor is overvalued the consumer price goes up but there is a limit on how much people will pay for sh--ty hamburgers. Theoretically at least. I would not eat that trash if it were free.
  18. One day the sign says "we quit" the next day it says "now hiring". I just found the dichotomy amusing because the AC still ain't fixed!
  19. I don’t know if you guys saw this yesterday but a Burger King somewhere in the United States had the entire shift quit after management refused to fix the air conditioner in the kitchen. They changed the sign in front of the store saying we all quit sorry for the inconvenience. I thought that was funny as hell. Well it gets better. This morning the management change the sign to “now hiring all shifts“ sometimes the funniest things are the things that are not trying to be funny!
  20. Motivation is where you find it!
  21. No they got in about 8 o’clock last night and left about 8 o’clock this morning. They couldn’t get gone fast enough. I had to insist on making them breakfast. They said they would get something on the road. Whatever.
