  1. Bay area coffee shop refuses to serve Police: http://www.kcra.com/article/bay-area-coffee-shop-wont-serve-police-for-safety-of-customers/19299705 What if the cops were gay?
  2. Gromnir I was mentally composing an appropriately snarky response to the way you mis-characterized my little rant on the previous page.... but it seems like more trouble than it's worth on a beautiful Friday.
  3. CarGo re-signs with Colorado, Moustakas resigns with KC. MLB will broadcast a game ever week on Facebook. Cool idea: https://ballparkdigest.com/2018/03/09/facebook-to-broadcast-mlb-games-weekly/ They will also be working with YouTube more: https://ballparkdigest.com/2018/03/09/mlb-youtube-tv-announce-expanded-partnership/ The Rays have some interesting ideas for their new stadium in Ybor City: https://ballparkdigest.com/2018/03/09/rays-offer-vision-for-ybor-city-ballpark/
  4. We call ourselves "the land of the free" here in the US. Isn't THAT a crock? Here in the land of the free 90% of the people seem to WANT the government to tell us "You can't have this. You can't watch that. You can't read this, listen to that, say this, think that, You can't eat that, you can't drink this, you can't marry him/her/them, you can't take your kids there, or read/teach/tell them this. Yes that is your house but we get to tell you what trees you can have, color you can paint it, pets that can live in it, or kinds of vehicles you can park in front of it. The money you earn isn't really yours, And don't forget to get on your knees and beg permission to do any work to that home you don't really own. Or drive the car you bought on the roads you paid for." And if the government ever thinks someone else will pay them more in taxes for that home they will just take it right away from you and give it to them and f--k you if you don't like it. 90% of the people think it's OK for the government to do whatever the f--k it pleases to whomever as long as it's doing to to things/people they decided they don't like. But when they come after THEIR toy/right/homes they scream bloody murder and utterly fail to see the logical paradox of the whole thing. And to think the one group who thinks the government should leave ALL of us alone are the crazy ones. Go figure.
  5. Hooray! We're all saved! Our Government is going to protect us from the violence in video games turning us all into mass shooters: http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/377338-trump-meeting-leaders-of-video-game-industry After all as Donald Trump himself said "Video game violence & glorification must be stopped – it is creating monsters!" Damn right Donald! After all no one ever shot up a school after playing Pac-Man or My Little Pony's Underwater Adventures. Actually all of you people in favor of Gun Control should be cheering for this. You've already convinced yourself the way to go is to punish people who have done no wrong by taking away things YOU decided they should not have. The same flawed mentality is at work here.
  6. Women's day is a drinking holiday? Huh. And here I thought it was stupid. How wrong I was. I think I'll pour a drink and raise a toast to chicks!
  7. I usually have a concept of what the character in the story might be. Especially single protagonist games like ES, FO, KOTOR, etc. For example Fallout 3 the whole drive of the plot was to find "Dad". and follow Dad. That and some of the other aspects of the story game me the impression the Lone Wanderer was more likely to be female than male. So I played that with a female character. Fallout New Vegas as the opposite for a few reasons. So the part of the Courier felt more suited to a male protagonist to me. As far as their races, I have little patience for making a good looking character using the tools in game. So I go one the Nexus page and look for ones other folks uploaded. Then use the ones I like the best. I pay no attention to the race. Elder Scrolls handled that a little differently. If you wanted to play a black character there was always the Redguards but no one race was suited to every style of play. So the racial choice was more driven by the skills that matched the style of play you favored or what you thought fit the story. For my part there is no way the Nevareine was not going to be a Dunmer, the "Hero of Cyrodill" was not an Imperial, or the Dragonborn was not a Nord. From a story point of view. If ES VI is in Hammerfell I'll play it as a Redguard. The kind of PC you play is a pretty personal choice I guess. Shady puts himself into the story so the story becomes his. That is one way to go. I go the opposite way, I become the story's rather than the story becoming mine. Just my $.02
  8. Well... after all these years I find out Volo is not a short, hairy, long bearded guy that swills ale and solves his problems with an axe while shouting a war cry in a thick Scottish accent. I don't know what to do with that information. All of my illusions are shattered!
  9. If there is one thing in this life I know is true it's this: looking up at the star filled sky, listening to crickets and owls, and feeling a cool breeze on your face on a totally dark night will make all your troubles seem insignificant. If only for a moment. Those of you who live in cities, I don't know how you don't go insane.
  10. That should not be funny.. but it is
  11. I guess people still fall for it
  12. Ichiro resigning with the Mariners? Not often a player gets to finish where he started (as far as MLB goes at least).
  13. Got a "phishing" call from a scammer claiming to be from the IRS saying my taxes were delinquent and they were referring my case to the "local cops". Exact words. I had a little fun with him.
  14. " was sitting on the couch watching TV with my son when his text message alert went off on his phone in the kitchen. He got up and walked in there to see who it was from. It was a text from me that said "Now that you're up please bring the chips and a Coke when you come back"
  15. Malc was right, I misread it. There are a low ball estimated 270M weapons in the hands of 100M people give or take.
  16. No the Dodgers are about right. No one wins 100 games in that division. don't sleep on the Giants. They are not set up for sustained success but they will do OK this year injuries permitting.
  17. Gorgon MY freedom makes no one unsafe. MY firearms (with one exception) almost never leave my property. Don't assault me, don't invade my home and you will never have to fear any of my firearms. I have violated no law nor committed any crime. No one can demand my property from me. I am not responsible for the actions of anyone other than me. I WILL NOT suffer punishment for the actions of others. I do not exist to serve the whims of the state. I am a free sovereign citizen. If a right I am born with can be taken from me by the caprice of others then I have no rights at all. If that is the case just send armed cops to take my weapons now. I'd rather live my last day free than see the day after when I'm not. And I will take as many with me as I can.
  18. When you get down to it, bourbon is just easier on the body than beer. 1 oz (30 mL) of Kentucky's finest has the same amount of alcohol as 12 oz (350 mL) of good beer (not watered down light crap!). But, the bourbon has only 90 calories vs 150 (give or take) for the beer. The bourbon has 0 carbs. The beer has 12g give or take. So in terms of health effects (in moderation of course) bourbon > beer. Another thing to consider is beer tastes good. Really good. It's effects are slow so you can drink beer while doing other things. Like washing your car for example. That can lead you to drinking many beers with many calories and carbs. Having a drink of whiskey is an activity in an of itself. No one is sipping highballs while sanding the deck. But a recycle bin of cans and bottles can fill up in a hurry! So you see, forget the beer, drink bourbon. It's better for you! So endeth the lesson that in terms of health, all comparisons are relative!
  19. @Grogon: I love how "the gun lobby" is characterized is some faceless boogeyman. Like Sauron from his tower in Mordor looking at the west in malice. The villain that is never seen but must be defeated. Do you know who the "Gun Lobby" is? Me. I am a lifetime member of the NRA. And the TFA. The NRA has an estimated 5 million members. Add up the smaller groups like state firearms associations and the like and it's easily north of 20 million. And the gun control talk is having the opposite effect expected to membership: http://time.com/5176471/national-rifle-association-membership-florida-shooting/ The "Gun Lobby" is almost every one of the 270 Million gun owners (a low-ball estimate) in this country who want nothing more than to be left alone. That is almost as many people who voted in the last Presidential election. The gun grabbers will never get a thing UNLESS they engage us. So we can compromise or we can do nothing. Take your pick.
  20. Last week I turned and fertilized the garden. This weekend I'm planting. Jeez this is a lot of work. Now I see why farmers had so many kids... cheap labor.
  21. Huh? I will take away the bike until you learn how to ride? How can you learn to use the thing if the thing is taken away? Yeah, or how about that nonsense of needing a license to drive a car? Don't know about where you live, but we actually drive cars to learn and get a license. Sounds crazy I know... You're splitting hairs here but that is actually true.
  22. Gorgon that is why you will not see any kind of gun control here. It's that all-or-nothing approach with no willingness to compromise. It isn't "toys" they are being told they must give up. It's private property. I only own two semi-auto weapons. Both are pistols. All of my rifles are lever, bolt, or single shot. So I am completely safe from any kind of ban for the moment. But I am 110% opposed to ANY ban that does not exempt what is currently in the hands of Americans who, on the day of the ban, have committed no crime. Because that leads only one place: confiscations. Police kicking down doors in the middle of the night and taking them at gunpoint. With more than a few police and civilians shot dead in the process. The way I see it the gun grabbers can meet their countrymen half way and respect their rights not just to their arms but to the sanctity of their private homes, and get an assault weapons ban everyone can live with. You they can insist on confiscations and nothing will change. And if it's rammed down out throats it will be bloody.
  23. Time to switch to the hard stuff
  24. I'm curious. For those that support an "assault weapon" ban, would you support a bill that bans only new sales and manufacture? One that "grandfathers in" all weapons currently in private hands.
  25. Hurlshot the sporting goods store that sounds like a work the board won't let me type didn't really sell anything that might be called and "assault rifle" to begin with. I don't know about the other stores they control, Field & Stream and one other, but with them it's a pledge without meaning. It would be like KFC promising to not sell hamburgers anymore because they are unhealthy. I like their idea though. If a business decided to not sell a dangerous product good for them. If people who own them decide to turn them in or not sell them or whatever I'm thrilled. Where they lose me is when the government says "Thous Shalt Not Own This. Now Turn Them In". My answer to that will always be "Come take them m----------r".
