What are you playing now...
No. Nocturne is part 3 in the series. The first game was called "Digital Devil Story" for NES and it was published by Namco. It was later picked up by Atlus and pretty much remade into Shin Megami Tensei that was release for SNES (it's the one I'm talking about). It never got released in NA.

Exactly like that. Xbox got SMT NINE in Japan which did quiet well and NA will never see a release for it.

Shin Megami Tensei thanks to Aeon Genesis translation. It's pretty funny that the translation is so much better then Revelation : Persona which was actually released in NA (without the entire Japanese race being censored out!). All I can say so far is... Take your faithful puppy dog to the Cathedral of Shadows, offer it as a sacrifice in a fusion... and say hello to your new Cerberus companion. :D Great game, very unique espcially for being over a decade old.

M$ is going for Japan a second time, with two exclusive titles! Your right... unfortunately.

Who will win the console war?
I wonder if those 90% of people who think the PS3 is priced a little too high will effect Sony at all? I think it's high as well, but I'll probably end up buying one unless all of my favorite developers switch to other platforms. If I do get one, it won't be at launch thats for sure (unless Sony gets a killer line-up, which they won't). As for the Nintendo Wii... Those title look interesting, but not enough to make me get one. Though I'll keep my eye on it.

F.E.A.R: Extraction Point Trailer
think about the time between the game and the xpansion... do you REALLY think they'd NOT reuse everything they possibly could? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought they would go a different route though. One of the main things people noted about FEAR was how old the office/warehouse/urban setting got by the end of the game (third level for me...).

F.E.A.R: Extraction Point Trailer
It looks real nice... and recycled... I think I saw maybe one new thing. I thought at the very least they would redo the Hero's hands or something, just to make it look new.

I don't know how things work in your crazy CRPG world, all I know is that each Final Fantasy game does not follow the same continuality...

Metroid Fusion was damn good. I couldn't tell you about Zero though, haven't played it myself.

Only played Half Life 1 and 2on that list. I would call it a sequel. The effects of the first game are clear in HL2 not to mention the main character. EDIT - I already said I believed NWN2 to be a sequel as well. Since both games take place in the same world and signs of that are clear.

Can't you see the chars/monsters/clans/areas of FF (enter number here) in FF (enter an other number here)? " Like I have pointed out many times... Same goes for everything else that might be common in FFs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From what I have heard Morrowind in Morrowind is alive and Morrowind in Oblivion is a dead place overrun with Daedra and totally demolished and such... Ah well... Also the "dark brotherhood" changed quite alot between the 2 versions... same with "Mage guild"; "fighters guild", "blades" etc. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Story reviving the issue. <_< They are not related in any way and the stories don't even take place in the same universe. They are recycled concepts that have nothing to do with their previews incarnation. As for Morrowind/Oblivion, they take place in the same world and that is enough.

I want to believe it... ... However, this is probably far more accurate.

There is a little kid in Persona III, he looks to be about 8-10 years old. He is a Persona user... I'm still wondering how exactly Atlus plans to bring the game to the states.

Damn, I forgot what this thread was even about... @ Topic Sucks, none of the two Shin Megami Tensei titles that are making it over to North America are on the list. I guess obscure, niche Japanese RPGs aren't for everyone.

So Oblivion and Morrowind are completely independant of each other, right? But you do find DX and DX:IW sequels... even though the entire game-machanic got changed and raped... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No. Hell, can't you see the land of Morrowind on the Oblivion world map?

Because it's part of the series... (oh god, I'm just feeding you more material aren't I?) I would consider it a sequel then, because the effects of the first NWN are there and they have effect that world I'm sure. ... I guess my definition of seque is far more narrow then yours. Sequel for me at the very least would involve the effects and remnants of the predecessor being there (from a story perspective).

I still don't call any FF (cept X-2) a sequel, stories are not connected and they don't even take place in the same universe. Never beat NWN and I don't know much about NWN2s world. If they don't even take place in the same world, I wouldn't call it a sequel. As for Madden... No story in Madden, the games follow the times in what kind of content they have. So, I guess not.

Volourn, you are wrong. Just admit it already, there is no shame in it! The stories in each Final Fantasy are NOT connected in any way (FFX-2 being the only expection). They might (not all FFs have them) recycle concepts and ideas, but even then, they are not related. Examples : FFII's "Promised Land" has nothing to do with FVII's "Promised Land." The "Ancients" are a different group of people in every FF they are mentioned in, again the groups are not related in any way. Could you please explain what you mean? I'm having a hard time following.

What do you consider a sequel? Stories aren't linked, words aren't related... They are not sequels, just games in an on going series.

There are only 3 FFXI expansion packs and there will probably be no more (as stated by devs). FFX-2 is a sequel, the first of it's kind in the FF series.. . All those FFXIII are DIFFERENT games. First is your typical FF game. Versus is made by the Kingdom Hearts team and is more action oriented and I don't know anything about Agito yet. As for the FFVII stuff, you got me there.

I was mostly talking about the way things worked (not names and such because they are left in their on purpose for that nostalgia and easter egg effects). Look how summons went from just being a prettier spell to actual monsters on screen that fought along side the fighters (FFX/XI). Look at all the changes between games in how spells and special attacks are obtained.

Let's be honest now, how much of the gameplay IS the battle system in Final Fantasy games? That being said... Reramping the battle system in each game does seem like a big change, doesn't?
