  1. The game is better than half decent. A great game that could have been better with more bug squashing and AI tweaks. Definitely worth playing <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You said the storyline was one of the best ever, comparing it to System Shock 2. Care to mention any other games with excellent storylines? Just curious, in case that i've missed some.
  2. Eventhough the A.I. seems to be poor, there were no complaints about framerate or strange dialogue loops. Maybe those were fixed.
  3. Look it from the bright side, KotOR 1 was virtually unplayable on my PC until patch 1.02 was released (It fixed the issue with memory-leaks)
  4. "This is not a battle of words, but out of blood..." Yep, simply badass
  5. If you don't like KotOR II, then spend your money on some other good RPG: Bloodlines (wait, that one is buggy aswell, meh ) Maybe Jade Empire when it arrives on the 14th of April. If you insist on the FPS department, i suggest to focus on Pariah instead. Or Advent Rising, check one of their videos here.
  6. Make sure it's very in-dept and atleast four pages long
  7. Capcom or Team Ninja. The next KotOR franchise will bring martial arts to a new level.
  8. Haha, repent swedes, REPENT! :D
  9. I just saw the video, they seem to know less than most people of this community does.
  10. The only thing they mentioned was the interface was diffrerent on the PC compared to xbox version, odd.
  11. Yeah immature anger made me do that nice nick. Buggy games i paid xxx amount of cash for make me feel that way. it's a landmark when XBOX (read-console) games are buggy as well..maybe im inexperienced but thats a totally new lowmark for me... One wonders why piracy is so common.... Maybe because 85% of the games released are: a) rushed b) totally worthless and not up to par with what they have announced c) more OR less buggy..often more then less d) cant stress this enough...rushed and buggy. This game (yes i play from the HD too...its my XBOX and its world wide known for this nice feature) I bought my last game - the rest will be pirated stuff downloaded for T E S T I N G before i spend a single dime on them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try to play from the disc instead, Akari posted that KotOR II doesn't support playing it from the HD. Most bugs should be solved that way(skipping dialogue, missing in-game movies and so on....)
  12. RPG's that i've played: Diablo Fable Morrowind KotOR 1 & 2 Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X and X-2 Bloodlines FPS that i've played: Unreal 1 and 2 (the latter was horrible) Half-Life 1, 2 Doom 1,2,3 Deus Ex 1, 2 System Shock 2 Undying Unreal Tournament 1 Metroid Prime Halo 1, 2 AvP 1, 2 Max Payne 1 I can easily say that these games are at a 50/50 range when it comes to story. Neither genre has overall better stories than the other.
  13. Nothing's absolute. I find Unreal 1 having better dept in its story than Morrowind.
  14. The main point isn't that. It's about how the story is told, which isn't restricted to a genre.
  15. It went over my head then, because I thought you were trying to prove that MP was a FPS that people played for the story, and that Diablo was a RPG that people played for the combat. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You didn't, you thought correctly. People play Metroid because of its more adventuristic nature, not for the combat. People play Diablo in order to try diffirent character builds and maximizing as much as possible--> xp-junkies.
  16. Are people playing Diablo because of the story? Are people playing Metroid Prime for the combat?
  17. The greatest american? How do you define that? Heroism? Scientific discovery? Economical success? Maybe someone in the veins of Oscar Schindler or Ghandi, putting aside personal gain or wealth for the sake of humanity. - Martin Luther King jnr, perhaps. McCarthy is as un-american you can get --> borderline fascism.
  18. Because they're first person RPG's. I'm not seeing where you're trying to go with this, but I can't wait for your next response... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> First time i heard that response. Sites like RPG codex site them as RPG's, while most call them hybrids or FPS, making it hard generalize that all FPS and RPG's share the same formula, but that's beside the point. The point was, KotOR and games like Halo share the same approach to tell a story ("In your face"), while others, like KotOR II, have a more subtle way of telling the story. That's what is the most distinct differences between KotOR and KotOR II, and the difference between Obsidian's and Bioware's approach (The last sentence was added in order make this more on-topic )
  19. There's always bad games in every genre. If you were presented with two choices of games: 1. FPS you know nothing about 2. RPG you know nothing about Then were told to pick the one with the better/more complex story, you'd by default, choose the RPG. Max Payne has a great FPS story, but compared to the standards set by RPG's, it's not all that great. That is exactly why any comparison between the two genres can never prove a point of superiority for a given game. You have to look WITHIN the genre to make any point valid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Deus Ex and System Shock 2, one of the best games ever, even story-wise. Yet they are neither RPG or FPS.
  20. idiotic adj/ 1. Showing foolishness or stupidity. You need to harden your skin a little, just because you see the word "idiotic" does not mean someone is "name-calling". If I were to resort to true name calling, then I'd have been banned from these forums long ago. The car analogy is perfectly fine for this discussion for the simple facts that: 1. Top speed is only one component of a car. - Just like story progression is only one component of gaming. 2. If someone wants a fast car, they'll pick a M3 over a 3/4 ton truck. - If someone wants high quality story progression, they'll pick a roleplaying game over a shooter. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not necessarily. As i said earlier, there's some FPS with better story than some RPG's. But this is getting way-off topic, point was that some people appreciate subtle approach to story-telling more than "in your face" approach. The latter is more common in FPS than in RPG.
  21. No bugs and framerate issues? Either Obsidian have done a good job on the PC-version, or gamespot haven't played far enough.
  22. That does not change the fact that comparing a genre that is by default simple and straight forward to a genre that is largely populated with more complex story elements, is idiotic. It's like trying to prove a point about how fast a BMW M3 is, by comparing it to a 3/4 ton truck. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Enough with the name-calling if you want to continue a serious discussion. If you have to resort to calling names in order to achieve an argument, then just stop. Take the Max Payne-series, very good story implemented in an FPS, some would say even better than some RPG's. The car analogy isn't right though, a quality of a vehicle isn't down to its top-speed.
