  1. Overrated: Jade Empire (and most Bioware games in general). Underrated: A good book.
  2. Though I personally am agnostic, my family is Jewish. I say that not to expose a non-existent bias, but in the hope that this will garner your attention and, possibly, understanding. I do not like terrorists; I make that clear now. I find their tactics deplorable and their callous disregard for life criminal. However, to encapsulate Palestinians as a race of terrorists is a gross generalization. There are extremists among every creed, however most are simply people, no better and no worse. The Middle East has a great many problems, due most to interreligious conflict. There have been mistakes made on all sides. I admit to feeling a greater comraderie for Israeli civilians, not because of a common heritage, but due to the greater abundance of civilian casualties within my purview. I do not deny, however, that there have been many deaths in the other camp. Aeschylus once said, "In war, truth is the first casualty." I could not agree with him more. There are two sides to every issue. Though one may seem at first glance more appealing or sympathetic, always ask questions. In the end, the truth serves everyone well, while war merely injures. This might be slightly juxtaposed, but in the words of Einstein, "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
  3. Unfortunately for you Calax, barring rejection of the universal power of dibs by Meta, we have the following: Kaftan - Borg Jaguars - Klingon Arch - Dominion This leaves: Federation, Cardassian, Romulan, and Ferenghi for the other four players.
  4. I fail to see the area where the rules say Borg can build units on all captured supply centers. Only Cardassian have that ability.
  5. What I mean is the 3:1 ration is an (admittedly faulty) approximation designed to indicate a single Klingon unit is stronger than a single unit of any other government. The two versions say the same thing, just in different terms.
  6. It applies to either ruleset equally well.
  7. Hmm...not sure. Either the creators left off the wormhole or the Borg have another mechanism to leave their area of space. Also, I have a comment on the Klingon advantage: My interpretation is that set out in the rules: each Klingon unit has the strength of 1 1/2 normal units when attacking only. The unit has normal strength when standing or defending. Thus, one Klingon unit may always dislodge one unit of any other government. However, this bonus strength only applies when the Klingon move is not being supported by any unit, including other Klingons.
  8. ... 9. If an infiltrated unit is dislodged and destroyed, the infiltration passes to the dislodging unit. If the infiltrated unit is dislodged and retreats, then the infiltration remains in this dislodged unit. ...
  9. Im not sure I understand your question.
  10. I do, and by the way, dibs on Dominion!
  11. Im just repeating the contents of the rules.
  12. No. Infiltration can only occur at the end of Spring or Fall. The unit will remain as if under the orders of its original government until ordered to the contrary by the Dominion. There is no limit to the number of units that can be infiltrated at one time, or how long the Dominion can wait to use their infiltration advantage. Once the Dominion has given orders for a unit throughout a season (the entirety of Spring or the entirety of Fall), subordinate officers of the infiltrated unit regain control for the original government.
  13. Looking over the rules, I have a slight disagreement in interpretation. From what I understand: at the end of each Spring and Fall, the GM randomly selects a unit from another power and secretly gives it Dominion control. After that point, the Dominion can, at any time in the future, override its original command and give its own orders to the unit. The same power can not have a unit infiltrated two seasons in a row and Borgs cannot be infiltrated. This way, the Dominion continually gains more units and would only lose them once he has ordered them through an entire season (either Spring or Fall). I base this interpretation upon the following quotes:
  14. I had assumed we would cement our choice of variants before sending in preferences? Are we definitely playing the ST version then?
  15. This seems quite interesting! Though Ive never been a huge fan of Star Trek, I am certainly up for this! If I understand correctly, using a variant means we gain Kaftan as a player, but lose Trobalov, yes?
  16. I dont read the Star Wars novels, so I have no way of knowing for sure, but some have speculated that the ship Canderous talks about in one of his war stories in K1 is a Yuuzhan Vong ship.
  17. I seem to recall something from a Star Wars d20 book I looked at about them being masters of biotechnology; ritually mutilating themselves to gain power or some such. Overall, rather odd beings. From what I understand, half the fans absolutely love them and think theyre the best villians ever; tne other half despise them and the man who created them and believe the Yuuzhan Vong to be the beginning of the downfall of Star Wars.
  18. Excuse the lateness of my adjudication. I am new to the program used to edit the map files and had to experiment a little to figure it out. Check the first post (or in several minutes your email).
  19. Time is up. Expect adjudication soon.
  20. It is Sunday and less than 16 hours remain until adjudication. If you have not already done so, send in orders. If you want to make changes, the time is now.
  21. Just don't mention Aeon Flux to him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If this is the same Aeon Flux Im thinking of (about a female freedom fighter/assassin in a large totalitarian city) then a movie version of the same name is being made starring Charlize Theron. Trailer
  22. Now, correct me if Im wrong, but I, and many others, have been playing Gothic II for quite a while. Being a native English speaker with almost no German experience, does that not indicate an English release?
  23. This statement implies you can not vote (at least in 2008). If you dont mind, why?
  24. Question: What day were you considering for the sessions? My father has been hassling me about the Friday night game, so I might have to switch to another. Time isnt really an issue, as I tend to be fairly nocturnal.
  25. I prefer darker haired women, so mostly brunettes and darker. Although, I also like a redhead. I have never seen the attraction to blondes. In the end though, I value other things over physical appearance.
