  1. The ending in KotOR1 was great. However, the story was quite mediocre with a few real big highlights, and I felt it relied mainly on the "shock effect." The ending in KotORII was horrid. Real horrid. However, the story was extremely well-done up until the end-game. I really loved the dialouge, and the options. It felt a lot more real and mature than the dialouge in KotOR1. Also, another plus about KotORII. The clothes. I just love the design on the various Jedi robes. It's simply delicious. Needless to say, I would like to give Obsidian a second chance. I really like these guys writing a lot, and would love to see an actually finished story by them.
  2. You're right about the ritual. What the hell was that? If I remember correctly the Sith Lord said something along the lines of; "You are too late. It has been done. It has been released." So, what the hell was he talking about? As for Atris, I suppose they wanted her to appear as the good little Jedi, and let you find out the truth for yourself. That she was drawing power from both sides. However, considing she and Nihilius were even on the cover, I had expected a lot more from them.
  3. Nothing. Up until the inane end-game that is. Actually, I've never been this pulled into a story, only to watch it crackle and fall completely towards the final act. A shame really.
  4. I'd say wait. This game is more bugged than Planescape : Torment was at release ( for those who remember ). I personally have however played it through a few times, mainly due to extreme boredom. But, the bugs are horrid, some even gamestopping. The storyline also leaves a lot to be desired, I do doubt we'll ever see it "fixed," however. Then again, you can of course be one of the lucky ( or perhaps blind ones? ) who has experienced no issues or bugs at all with this product. Maybe.
  5. Well, my first and most precious character was a power hungry Jedi. A very disgruntled one at that. He simply could not get over the fact that the Jedi had stripped him of everything, and thus desperatly sought revenge, carving a bloody path through the Council with his one-hilted silver (later to become red) lightsabre. He was however not completely without loyalties, he treasured Kreia quite a bit actually. The rest were mere convenient tools. But she was a lot more than that to him. He took heed of her every word. And when she casted him aside, like a worthless mut, a failure, his hatred simply grew out of porportion. He slipped deeper and deeper into the same abyss as Nihilius. And so, his manipulative side vanished, and was replaced by nothing but lust for murder. In the start, I mainly focused on the more intellectual aspects. Intelligence, charisma, wisdom, and the darker force powers combined with mind trick and force persuasion. Towards the end, it was more about the raw not so subtle powers. Sadly, as a Consular/Sith Lord, the game really had zero challenge to offer, but the story offered plenty of entertainment up to the mediocre end-game.
  6. Personally I tried both * and / several times in my game. It didn't work, at all. In fact, I spent almost 30 minutes at that part just switching between them, trying again and again, until I simply decided to move on. Hopefully we will see a patch VERY soon.
  7. Yeah, the movies are of extremely poor quality for me. Worse than Planescape : Torment, I'd dare to say.
  8. Personally I think Nihilius was a True Sith, especially seeing how he and the Holocrons spoke in the same tongue, and the holocrons were supposed to contain "Ancient Sith Teachings" Atris had collected. Also, he was refered to as a "wound in the force," just like the Exile and the True Sith! Not to mention the whole "Ancient Evil" thing. It also would explain why he was on Malachor V. However, if it is true that the holocrons and Nihilius were just speaking backwards English, and that that is supposed to be the Sith tongue, I'm more than heavily disappointed.
  9. What I'd like the plot to be? Hm, well to start - I'd like it to be somewhat finished. Rarely have I been pulled so hard into a storyline, only to watch it end in utter idiocy due to an INSANELY rushed end-game. Yes, that's what I'd like it to be. You might have noticed the same language is spoken by the Sith holocrons. And this is why I believe Nihilius to be a True Sith. Shame we didn't get to know more about the man behind the mask, but maybe it's for the better?
  10. Yes, I have the exact same issue. And I had it with KotOR1 as well. Sadly, I'm not sure if there is a solution. But I do hope there is.
  11. I find it hard to believe that that's the fault of the game.... A game, no matter how complex is not responsible for overheating a card.... This sounds more like faulty drivers or something like that.... especially since my 9800 Pro is performing like a dream in thes game (KotOR2)... I didn't have a single slowdown, so that rules the game engine out.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That was my belief at first as well. However, after playing Half-Life 2, Doom 3, BFME and pretty much every new graphically advanced game perfectly on my old 9800 Pro without any overheating issues whatsoever. So, I find it quite odd that both the old and new cards got fried whilst playing KotOR and it's sequal. It's a bit too much for me to just take as a mere coincidence, as I'm also very careful with which drivers I use (As any ATI user should be), and I know that my rig has more than enough cooling to handle the most graphically advanced game. On top of all this, I've heard of quite a lot of people other than me who has had their hardware permanently damaged while playing KotOR. On the other hand, there are plenty of ATI users seems to run the game just perfectly fine so I'm not sure where the real issue lies, but it's obviously related to the game. I have no idea. Frankly, I was pretty damn surprised when I started to hear my otherwise so quiet rig starting to wheeze in the middle of a gaming session. Especially when KotORII had ran perfectly fine the other day. Next, I encountered the flickering textures, and an all too familiar feeling came over me. However, this just shouldn't happen. I've ran Doom 3, HL2, and so on PERFECTLY FINE when I even had inferior cooling. It just does not make sense, but I can't deny the fact that KotOR has always been the obvious cause of these problems. Why? You tell me.
  12. I'd prefer to se more advanced NPC interactions. I really enjoy all the in-party drama, and altho it was certainly improved, it was still lacking a lot in KotORII. For one thing, characters did not really act after their alignment at all. I had my Handmaiden fully Darkside, and she'd still complain about killing innocents 24/7. So, I'd like to see alignment actually matter more for your party members, and not just be aesthetics. Oh, and a new engine would be nice too, I do however value the story aspects a lot more.
  13. Sadly I can't provide you with a solution for this problem, I can however tell you that Atton appears just fine for me during the dialouge between him and Kreia.
  14. Press the party button and add the two missing members? That's what I did at least. And I do believe this occurs every time.
  15. The issues I had with KotORII was of a most severe nature. This game actually fried my brand new ATI Radeon X800XT Platinum card despite the excellent cooling I had. So yes, the engine certainly does have some big flaws. Especially seeing how my old Radeon 9800 Pro was fried so long ago by the first KotOR. A pure coincidence that both cards were fried when playing KotOR and its sequal? I think not. Oh, and I also had that horrid slowdown in Dantooine. I could barely move my character at all. I really wish they'd just fire whoever did the QA for this title.
  16. It is in my belief that Darth Nihilius was in fact a "True Sith." And the two quite simple reasons for that are; To begin with his voice is the same as the voices in Atris Sith Holocrons. Yes, I assume these are recording of ancient Sith teachings by the True Sith. A mere coincidence, or something more? And he was also described as being a "wound in the force." The True Sith, are in fact wounds in the force, much like the Exile. Perhaps this is also just a coincidence. After all, the Exile was obviously a human and yet was a wound in the force. Now, I personally am not really well wandered in the Star Wars universe, so forgive me if I am dreadfully wrong. However, from what I do actually do know, this is what I believe to be the most likely answer to what Darth Nihilius really is. A True Sith. A True Sith Lord.
