ArnoldRimmer
Why can't we create are own weapon focus group (that could also be used by a fighter to specialise like the existing focuses)? I want to use certain weapon combos but they are sometimes spread over 2-3 focuses... currently so as not to make a talent half useless I end up using the weapons in that group (1 ranged, one hand-to-hand), but it's really annoying as for role-playing or just personal preference I may want a different weapon - it means if I take knight for the sword that person always uses a crossbow too as I don't want to lose the accuracy bonus by using a different ranged weapon, or I have to waste another talent just to get the ranged weapon I want. It also seems to be completely random as to why certain weapons are grouped together (like why all the implements are grouped together except one). I don't like guns and would prefer to be able to use bows instead. Is there anyway to suggest this? Or view what suggestions are being tracked by obsidian? Or maybe just give every PC/NPC a free weapon focus at character creation? Heijoushin
Hmmm... I've divided here. I know what you mean. But creating a custom weapon group and then giving yourself a talent would be like getting 4 talents for the price of one. Grouping certain similar weapon types together (I mean, like "pike & spear" or "axe & hatchet") is still not that useful, but seems more logical... ArnoldRimmer
Hi! I meant either create a custom group (that works for in the game like any predefined one - so you can specialize too if you are a fighter), or give everyone a focus at the start so at least then if you wanted two weapons that were in different groups you could do so with only one talent... I know you would then have loads of weapons but come on... you only get too slots, you can't use loads, it's a pain in the arse to swap them manually and you spend money enchanting them so I can't see people being to abuse having this extra focus group. JerekKruger
One idea would be to revise the current weapon focus groups to have some overlap. It seems to me that soldiers, adventurers and knights would all be trained to use swords, not just knights, for example. I'm not sure how I'd assign the weapons off the top of my head, but this might make the choice of weapon focus a little less of a no-brainer. The weapon focus groups are a strange set of talents. On the one hand I like that they give more flexibility than choosing a single weapon to focus on, but on the other I dislike how sometimes the two weapons I actually want to use are in different groups. Abbzug
It's really stifling in the early game to take a weapon focus I feel, which is why I've opted to take gallant's focus instead. It's only two accuracy less but it makes you so much more versatile and it's also an aura. I find it's an especially good talent for barbarians and chanters since they both like running with max int and they have a lot of free space for talents. Plus you can give your paladin zealous endurance instead. Edited November 15, 2015 by Abbzug
Boeroer
Yes, it's a pretty good alternative to weapon focus if you want to be free from weapon restrictions. Actually, you just made me think about a variant of my Prondroni build. Thanks for that! Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Bazy
We should have the option. If not in the game, then through modding. But they really dropped the ball on the modding promises.
