Vik Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I don't know how many times my tank or solo character has died because of charging to a bad position from a good position in combat after killing one foe in a mob. Anyone else besides me that really want a hold position command? 2
Luckmann Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 To have a "hold position" toggle per-character would be wonderful, yes. It is a bitch trying to keep the characters from moving while also trying to avoid getting caught in Engagement. You've got that split second after an enemy goes down to tell them to Cancel Action or you're screwed. Because Engagement. Such fun.
Archaven Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Press Backspace and press X then. It works for me.
gkathellar Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 It's right under the "Make Toast" button, in between the Bishie Sparkles slider and the Dreams toggle. Press Backspace and press X then. It works for me. Right up until the AI tells your guy to do a thing for no appreciable reason. Yeah. 1 If I'm typing in red, it means I'm being sarcastic. But not this time. Dark green, on the other hand, is for jokes and irony in general.

You've got that split second after an enemy goes down to tell them to Cancel Action or you're screwed. Because Engagement. Such fun. You can pause any time you want and cancel actions. Going onto another enemy after downing one is much more intuitive (even if you have to cancel that action) than having to coordinate them after every downed enemy - there would be vastly more people complaining your party was brain dead for not going onto another target after downing someone than vice versa because the micromanagement would sky rocket. It's called real time with pause for a reason. The slow time button, which I use on significant fights, also greaty stops this probelm. Edited April 18, 2015 by Jojobobo
luzarius Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) 1. start the fight with ranged attack 2. switch from ranged to melee 3. hit x immediately after switching to melee to keep tanks in their current position (hold position) 4. wait patiently until tanks are engaged by enemies 5. kill enemies After some enemies are dead you don't like how your team mates automatically move position? I'm going to keep an eye on this in game. Tigranes Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Turn off Auto-Attack in options. Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)
gkathellar Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Turn off Auto-Attack in options. Does that actually work now? Because last time I checked, that didn't seem to actually work. 1 If I'm typing in red, it means I'm being sarcastic. But not this time. Rosbjerg Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Yeah I checked it off first thing I did when I saw it in options - along with a multitude of auto-options. Fortune favors the bald.
Vik Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 Problem with auto attack option is that once the character has attacked once when that foe dies it will automatically acquire other targets. It is true you can press X then run backwards (even though enemies sometimes get opportunity strikes if you are not fast enough). All I'm saying is that it would be convenient with a hold position command. 1
