it´s merely a time saver for me. if you dont use tab you would have to slowly drag your mouse all over the monitor all the time as there could be literally everywhere one little lootspot. I really wish the perception stat would work outside of scouting mode and highlight you those normal lootspots (and if its a really high perception skill even the secret spots, scouting should only give you a significant bonus in perception)

What purpose would that serve? Why make it mandatory for everyone to have even more these UI markers all over the scenery telling them where to go and what to do? Why not just make the highlight key an On/Off toggle instead?

This statement is false.

I don't consider it cheating, however since i have binded it to Mouse 3 button I catch myself having it pressed continiously.

It helps, not forced to use ofc :p

It would mess ui too much if those markers would be on all time, so its just fine as is.

I have TAB bound to the minimap. In a way it does constitute cheating, on the other hand with wizards and ciphers being commonplace in the game lore you'd expect an orientation help would be the first thing theyd come up with.

If highlighting objects with TAB is considered cheesy. I guess i cheated in Diablo 2 a lot. Just call me Cheesy McCheater, lord of game cheese. :brows:

I just played a casual game where pixel hunting for items was a thing. Finding a small object, which you know it looks like, on 15 potential maps... it was a pain I don't want to relive.

Now expand that to not knowing what to look for and 152 maps.

Yeah, Tab, I looooooove you!

Guys, I'm using a monitor to play the game. Is this cheating? Should I be doing it blind?

Edited by manageri

Guys, check it out: if you hit the spacebar, the game pauses! And you can take all the time you want to issue orders and consider your options!

So cheat.

I consider an addition to my craptacular eyes.

Dude, Tab, okay, there's a line... but Spacebar? You just crossed it man, too far... too far!

I know, right? Clearly you're supposed to go on slow mode and hit that button in the middle of the screen. I figure the spacebar was some kind of developer tool they forgot to remove!

Use it 'till they patch it, I say.

Wasteland 2 had the same feature and I regret missing it completely at first play through :D.

I am not going to try and convince you. The fact that you try - hard - indicates that you find it cheating. It should be enough of an answer to you. What you do with that is up to you.

I'm with the person that said that TAB highlighting could be removed...

The best choice for developers is usually giving the player a choice. I.e. on/off box in the option window.

Why does there need to be an option when it's as simple in this case as "Don't like it, don't use it"... why need an option for that?

However maybe all blue loot containers should be automatically highlighted while you are searching and nearby.

Because people with zero self-control cry on the forums that if it's there, they must use it, they just must!

I should let those people play Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
