Oxford_Guy Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 The range of zoom level between maximum and minimum seems very limited - you can't zoom out enough to get a good enough overall scope, nor zoom in enough to see more of the character details. Is this intentional or will this be changed? Might just be my setup? This is on a 13" 1440x900 screen and an Intel HD 4000 GPU Panning around the map also seems very slow, but maybe that's just my GPU? "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!"

Including the setZoomRange There might be very minor spoilers. Edited February 13, 2015 by Polanski
Oxford_Guy Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 Thanks, I'll take a look. BTW in the release game will use of console commands break achievements? "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!"
Polanski Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 As far as I know, there will not be achievements in the game. Which for me personally also would not make any sense for this kind of game.

Mayama Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I guess its your resolution but like polanski said their is a solution for you. On the other hand a intel 4000 HD is not the fastest GPU on the market and should be the problem why panning around is so slow.

That was what I was thinking, but I have no way to test whether it's an better on faster GPUs I do plan on upgrading to a laptop with Nvidia 970M graphics very soon, though! Okay, no worries There are going to be achievements in the steam version of the game (the devs have mentioned it and it's confirmed by the steam page). Ii don't know if opening the console will have any effect on them.

Okay, the I hope there's going to be some way to adjust the zoom range without having to use the console and without breaking achievements in the release game "My name is Inigo Montoya. Roby Atadero Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 There are indeed Steam achievements. There will be a console command that unlocks all of the "cheat" commands. If you enable that, your playthrough will no longer be able to achievements (you can reload your game prior to enabling cheats and still be able to get achievements). The zoom range is currently closest = pixel perfect (no seeing the background textures scaled/pixelated). You just have a very high DPI screen so your characters are likely small at pixel perfect. We're looking into maybe adding a DPI based zooming option in one of the patches (always make closest zoom make my character around ~1.5 inches on screen). Probably would only work on full screen mode though. 7 Twitter: @robyatadero
Roby Atadero Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I should note, there are console commands that are not considered "cheat" commands. Things like setting the zoom range are not a cheat command. 6 Twitter: @robyatadero

I bought a 1440p screen in 2013 because of that, but ended up selling it.

I guess the loading times would be horrendous without a solid state hard drive and the game might stutter like crazy because I doubt that any standard PC/GPU has enough ram to handle such big pictures with such a high dpi in a game. Oxford_Guy Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 So, am just wondering, will running at a resolution higher than 1080p give no visual benefit currently? Not a huge deal, am just curious, as I'm considering buying a new laptop computer soon with a good GPU, and am trying to figure out if there are enough games I'm likely to play that would benefit from a resolution greater than 1080p. If not, may just get one with a 1080p screen "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!"
Sensuki Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 (edited) If anything it would probably look worse (while I think some of the UI elements are tiled, a lot of it probably upscales). For this game, source res is definitely best. Edited February 15, 2015 by Sensuki
Oxford_Guy Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Okay, thanks "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!"
Oxford_Guy Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Sorry to dig this old thread up. but how do you open the console on non-US keyboard, I have a UK keyboard and tilda is accessed by hitting shift-#, the #key is 2 keys right of the "L" key. but shift-# doesn't open the console ( "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!"
