This is something that kind of annoyed me in Baldur's Gate 2--all the artifact super-items were WEAPONS.

Put in some cool interesting non-weapon items please. In fact, these should be the vast majority of items, since you generally have, like, 12 slots for non-weapon items and can only use one (or at most, two) weapons at a time. Yes, I know there are more TYPES of weapons (cosmetically speaking) than there are types of belts or pants, but I'm perfectly happy if somebody in the party gets stuck with a dagger if the selection of magical rings isn't so small that the only person with 2 is my PC.

Ring of Kangaxx? That golemcasting spellbook?

I think there were plenty of non-weapon artifacts. Also while everyone could use the same hat (besides mages), weapons needed like 12 subcategories being there were 12 subcategories, and all would need artifacts or be potentially the bad choice (and many still were).

I suppose if we just have less weapon-classes (sometimes less options IS better) there could easily be a better weapon/equipment ratio...

I agree that that is such a stupid idiotic pathetic garbage hateful retarded scumbag evil satanic nazi like term ever created. At least top 5.

I don't see why not. Although, I think a big reason why there were so many weapon artifacts is because there were so many types of weapons. I think that they could eliminate some "redundancies" of weapons found in D&D.

I would love to have a pair of epic pants.

There are so many possible mind-blowing/funny/weird things that can be done outside of weaponry.

Some type of artifact that can be inserted into your house or stronghold would be good.

Interesting opinion rjshae.... What do you imagine an artifact that you stored/displayed in stronghold do for you while questing? or do you think there could be other uses to it?

Oh, perhaps something the slowly recharges items or maybe a magical communication device for people to send you messages. It could be an arcane forge that allows special items to be crafted, a guardian to drive out evil spirits and swat thieves, or a big war engine to defend against sieges and dragons. For something really weird, it could be an artifact for building a remotely controlled doppelganger, allowing you to adventure elsewhere while staying safely in your abode. Shrug. There are many other possibilities, I'm sure.

lol I was on board with you but you've thrown me off your train... Though I do think there can definitely be some fresh and unique uses for non-weapon artifacts on your PC or in your stronghold.

Well I hope the landing didn't hurt then. Shrug.

Give it a try: what fresh and unique ideas have you got? :)

It did hurt! lol I don't know... I wasn't thinking so creatively... I think we can agree most of us think of personal artifacts in RPG's (esp D&D style RPG's) as buffs to stats... so maybe these stronghold artifacts can be buffs to your stronghold?? Extra storage for items? Different banners/artifacts you can earn and hang up outside that can bolster your fame in town for better prices on gear? dunno lol you can be my DM anytime!

I do like your ideas I just don't think sieges/dragons or even thieving is going to be implemented on your stronghold. Have the devs said anything about this? If they implemented thieves robbing your stronghold (if you stay away too long lets say) I think having a pet you can have at your stronghold for security would be cool... You come home and your 4 hellhounds have mauled 4 thieves and all their gear is laying about.
