meomao Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) BG Trilogy. C'mon don't make me choose: in these day BG1, BG2 and ToB are all in the same DVD . But... Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines would be close second. Edited October 21, 2012 by meomao
Blackhound Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Planescape Torment, to preserve it for future generations. If I had to pick one game to play though, it would be BG1, more replay value imo
TrashMan Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Wait...would Jagged Alliance 2 count as a RPG? Of course it would, since it basically is an RPG! You play as a mercenary, follow a storyline, do quests, gain experience points, have loads of stats.. Then JA2 definately. * YOU ARE A WRONGULARITY FROM WHICH NO RIGHT CAN ESCAPE! *Chuck Norris was wrong once - He thought HE made a mistake!
Coolraft Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) Nothing can be compared with Baldurs Gate II: Shadows of Amn. The storyline is still the best so far. John Irenicus is the best NPC out there in RPG's. I've played it several times, vanilla and modded runs. Just a epic game! Edited October 21, 2012 by Coolraft 1
Gicusan Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) As much as I love RPG, I would save Civilization 4. I think one can teach a lot with it. And the game has endless worlds which makes it really hard to get bored of. But if I have to chose an RPG, I would probably save Morrowind; I somehow like BG and PST more but I feel I can spend many more hours in that open great game. Edited October 21, 2012 by Gicusan
Larkaloke Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 That would be quite a hard choice. If I could swing it, I'd claim that Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II (plus expansions) should count as one and go with that. If I couldn't do that, though... I'd be inclined towards Planescape: Torment on the one hand, but on the other hand, either Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale I would play more often. In the end I would roll a d4 and take whichever of those four games came up, or else I'd run down any time limit I might have on the decision agonising over it.
Auxilius Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Arcanum, hands down. And I'm sad Baldur's Gate (2) is so popular because I tried countless times BG1 and couldn't get myself to like the game, meaning even if I tried my best to get into BG2, a superior game according the everyone, the experience would have been incomplete. Therefore, I never played both. And the lack of NWN2/MotB is saddening too.
fallendrgmaster Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Phantasy Star IV, this was the game that started it all for me.
Farbautisonn Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Planescape torment. Bought the game three times before I decided to burn it and save it. I still play it once a year or so. . Its pretty much the benchmark in storytelling and immersion as far as I am concerned. And the people who said DA2 and ME3? You can **** off to hell. Now. "Politicians. Little tin gods on wheels". -Rudyard Kipling. A European Fallout timeline? Dont mind if I do!
Chr1s Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Planescape Torment here too and Fallout 2 as close second.
Roxane Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Only one ? That's kinda cruel.... Hum I have soft spots for VtM:Bloodlines, Final Fantasy VI, Icewind Dale and the Neverwinter Nights series..... I'll go for VtM:Bloodlines only because it is kept alive by a fan base community who keep either fixing it's bugs and restoring it into what it meant to be or by modding t over and over again. My Obsidian Order title really belongs to my cat who is cute since day one and she built her attitude around it.
Elerond Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) It is time to think future and not dwell in past so I would make a time fork where in one branch I would save Project Eternity and in another one I would save Wasteland 2 . Edited October 21, 2012 by Elerond
Mamoulian War Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) Dungeon Master II, because no one mentioned it yet... And I would take Pathfinder Core Rulebook under my arm as well Close runner-ups would be FFIX, PS:T, Suikoden II, Lands of Lore, Demons Souls and Ishar II... Grotesque Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Fallout 1 because even Arcanum had a more interesting combat system than Planescape: Torment. After my realization that White March has the same XP reward problem, I don't even have the drive to launch game anymore because I hated so much reaching Twin Elms with a level cap in vanilla PoE that I don't wish to relive that experience.
