We have:

3(4) magical classes - wizard, cleric druid (and cipher)

2(3) warrior classes - monk, fighter (and barbarian)

1 specialist class - rogue

By specialist class I mean somebody who can do things like open locks, disable traps, negotiate, is acrobatic, etc. In summary, what we in DnD call a skill monkey.

Also, no class that is focused on archery/distance fighting. Fighter and rogue probably could to some degree but I guess that would be it. (of course not mentioning magical classes - no need for weapon focusing).

I suppose Bard could be such a class, or something entirely new, e.g. Scout, Engineer or something less obvious like a magical archer that uses elven traditions of bow and magic.

Ah, sorry - did not notice there was a Ranger class :p

Actually, I hope the ranger class is not an archery heavy class. Or atleast not a range weapon only class. I'm fine with that being an option for them, but rangers were always more of wilderness warriors to me, and ones not specifically tied to bows.

As long as the skill system is flexible and robust enough, I expect Fighters, Rangers, and Rogues to all be able to produce viable archer builds.

I feel the same about rangers. I mean, look at Aragorn, the original ranger. He was definitely a wildness warrior more than an archer

I don't expect the Rogue to be a dedicated skill monkey. They sound as if skills will be spread amongst the group. You might as well throw him in as a warrior class.
