Well, the demo pretty much confirmed my suspicions. This game will join my list of the original Xcom and JA2 as best games ever created.

I know it was just a tutorial, but it's pretty clear once they take off the training wheels that this is the real deal. Can't wait to jump in to a full game.

Yeah. I used the demo to get a feel for the game, and it's pretty much right in line with what I expected. I think the game will be pretty amazing. For those expecting more from a demo, I think this is exactly what a demo should do. I got a feel for how the gameplay will work, and was pleasantly surprised to be able to run around my base even if in a limited capacity.

I am thinking on doing a Let's Play of it as well just for fun.

The demo told me some important things:

1) The game runs very well;

2) It controls very well with a controller so I can just opt for the comfy couch experience.

The mission available was simple, sure, but it was already fun and you can feel the potential tension of a proper X-Com title. I already own the X-Com collection on Steam, so I'm ready for a different take on the mechanics! Bring it on, Firaxis!

It was never supposed to be like that. That's not what X-COM ought to be about. "Comfy" my ass.

Sure, how dare I play a turn-based game in a comfortable position instead of hunched back on my monitor! Woe is me!

I played the first XCOM comfy on a couch too.... (my computer was in the basement next to the couch)

I wouldn't be surprised if the XCOM FPS will be closer to the spirit of X-COM than this little pathetic remake from Firaxis.

And i can't even comment on you, since you'll see it as a personal attack again ;_;

1.13 killed off Ja2.

I didn't even realize the demo was out. Time to dl.

Yeah I never got this couch thing being only consoles.

I'm sitting on a recliner while typing this, can't get much more comfy than that.

Well you better not be playing any XCOM game!

If only there was some kind of magical no cord technology to allow you to use PC input devices from a distance.

Psssh. Magic. There can be no magic in XCOM!

Apparently you can change the demo difficulty from the ini/config file if you want to extend that 10 minutes to something more challenging.

There are apparently close to ~4Gb *.bik movie files in the demo alone. Talk about a screwed up demo distribution.

And I suppose if you want to feel comfy in your recliner while watching hours of movies, this game might be for you. But that's not XCOM to me.

XCOM, a back breaking experience.

XCOM, a comfy, controller enabled movie experience for the whole family!

It's not about the sitting position you blockhead.

I bought a new sofa this month, looks like I timed it perfectly for the upcoming release date then. :sorcerer:

I have a funny feeling that not even XCOM is XCOM to you.

Hours of movies. Talk about exaggerations.

Must have been some demo to be the best game ever at this point, heh. I did watch the Gamespot stream, and it looked pretty similar to the feel of the last game (and the Firaxis guy isn't talking about another game when talking about his, Shafer).

Also you people need to get a better computer chair and monitor positioning :p

Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra

I was very happy that my soldiers felt like they had some character, while still being a blank enough slate for me to build stories about them. That is a difficult thing to accomplish.

I'm not sure what is going on with Morgoth. I know he has a duty to be the board cynic, but it's almost as if this game has turned out too good, and it has broken something inside of him. Get well soon Morgie!

Apparently it's set on easy, so there's Normal, Classic and Impossible left. :D

enjoyed the demo but it REALLY needed to have at least 2 more missions, it was just way too short.

about the only thing i was able to glean from it was that its not a disaster.

Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete.

I'm glad it didn't go much deeper, I actually deleted it immediately so I can wait for the real thing.
