June 8, 201114 yr Is there some key that you can hold down to keep a character from advancing? After the two or three swings of the sword, the melee character will step forward with every swing. I started one fight with a bunch of guys standing in front of me, and a few clicks later was standing on the far side of the group with everyone stabbing me in the back. How do you stop this? Mr. Perfect - A name fraught with peril.

I just swing twice, and stop myself from swinging the third time (with the 2h sword, that is... I usually use this time to roll away). That third swing is downright obnoxious for me. =P
June 8, 201114 yr Doesn't the third swing do extra damage? It always seemed to absolutely murder whoever it hit. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
June 8, 201114 yr Doesn't the third swing do extra damage? It always seemed to absolutely murder whoever it hit. As far as I can tell it does about double the damage. That being said, however, I would rather swing twice for the same damage and retain more control over my character than lose control for 1 second of locked character animation (especially when you leap PAST the group of enemies and only kill half of them... This doesn't happen often, but it happens enough to avoid the third swing for me)... In a twitch based action game like DS3, 1 second can be the difference between life and death. =P Edited June 8, 201114 yr by hopfrog16
June 8, 201114 yr You can actually finish the entire attack combo, and then roll back to where you were after by pushing back + Spacebar. That being said, if you're under heavy attack, your mana will regenerate very quickly and you can take advantage of your spells a lot more.
June 8, 201114 yr The trick is that you can change the direction of the third strike. just point to wherever you want to hit with your third strike, and that's where you'll hit. The wrench is your friend.
