Rosbjerg
Finally I am one of the most liberal, open minded person you will meet. I however stand by my convictions once a view has been formed. If that makes me close minded because I draw from my personal experiences, learned knowledge and I point out facts you, or others, don't want to discuss/acknowledge that's not my issue. Having to point that out really isn't good for such an argument... Also, firmly holding to ones convictions once they've been formed, isn't exactly the definition of open-mindedness.. but whatever.. Fortune favors the bald.

He wanted to judge me out of the blue without knowing me so.. *shrugs* but generally I agree with your point. First I never said my mind couldn't be changed. I simply hold my convictions until proven to my satisfaction I should do otherwise. Isn't that what we all do? Let me put it this way. When I was a child I never had spinach that I could recall until I was 6 or 7. Saw popey on the cartoons ate it all the time thus was even biased by that thinking i'd prob like it and was open to the idea. I recall trying it for the first time and found it absolutely disgusting. Never touched it again. Years later woke up one day and decided to try it again. Loved it, change my mind and been eating it ever since. I know someone is going to take this analogy and distort it, over analyze to all hell but whatever... But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta

Honestly, I think that this is kinda hypocritical to the holiday that you have to be extra special nice only in this month, while the other 11 months you can be a complete jackass. The only thing really crammed down my throat about christmas is the midnight servicese at church that I was dragged to. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! The only thing really crammed down my throat about christmas is the midnight servicese at church that I was dragged to. While I agree there is a ton of hypocritical Christians out there, I'd say one of the reasons Christmas is singled out instead of the other 11 months is that it is typically the dead of winter. This is a difficult time for a lot of reasons, and so extending some extra courtesy goes a long way. I find it more bothersome that a lot of Christians seem to only be Christian on Sunday, while the other 6 days are a party That is why I have a good deal more respect for the Muslim friends I know, they are praying 5 times a day, every day. They are a lot more committed.

Gorgon
I actually got physically ill when a colleague started decorating our workspace with Christmas junk. I have violently hated Christmas since about the age of 18. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.

Meshugger
Our HQ doesn't really give a shoe. We have a christmas-tree and other decorations. No one has complained about it either since they know that the argument itself is ridicolous and it would make them look stupid. Yes, it is a multinational company. No one has complained about it either since they know that the argument itself is ridicolous and it would make them look stupid. Yes, it is a multinational company. The tree, mistletoe, wreath and such xmas decorations all trace back, if I recall correctly, to German pagan roots. So if anyone was to complain it should be the xians, not anyone secular or pagan. But as a whole I agree its silly so complain about such no matter your point of view. I always get a kick out of that when I do ghost tours here in Salem and I have a few moments to talk about modern witchcraft and paganism. And when I talk about the roots of halloween, xmas and the tree after explaining the roots of them I say something along the lines of 'So in the end, as a pagan witch, thank you for celebrating our pagan holidays we appreciate it!' Most folks get a chuckle out of it but there is always a few that fail to see the humor in it and I target them for the rest of the tour LOL World of Darkness News http://www.wodnews.net --- "I cannot profess to be a theologian; but it seems to me that Christians who believe in a super human Satan have got themselves into a logical impasse with regard to their own religion.
