Heh, you can't make me answer.

True. But I can guess that the only reason you're not sharing is because you know that your reason is full of holes. :bat:

I'm not sharing because I don't think if I was honest it would end well, but I'll concede from your point of view my reasons would not be valid.

I'm guessing that it starts with a "Re" and ends with a "ligion." Or it might start with a "Homo" and end with a "phobia." Or it might be something else.

The sad thing is the minority vote has been overwhelmingly against gay marriage. You would think that given the civil rights battle was less than 50 years ago, there would be more support from black communities for gay rights.

Meh, minorities are people too, meaning they are rotten bastards or not to the same degree as everyone else. Their experience of discrimination on the sharp end of the stick doesn't change anything, it could just as easy make them more likely to return the favor.

Oi! I'm white upper class (proper upper class, none of your colonial nonsense) and - so far as I know - heterosexual. I haven't had any problem with gay people besides all the shrieking since I was about 18.

I haven't understood homophobia since I understood they weren't monsters. They were good people that you CAN rely on to do a proper job and show guts when it matter etc etc. In fact I'd go further: unlike 'straight' people, declaring yourself to be gay takes genuine courage. So you can be sure on average that a gay fellah is more likely to stand his ground than some 'straight' Walter Mitty.

Bigotry and intolerance tend to breed bigotry and intolerance. Which is understandable, but not acceptable imo.

A person can't legislate out of existence everything idea they disapprove of. I mean, they can try, but it's not going to work. No matter how much legislation or amendments they pass, they will always be something "unacceptable" that still needs to be removed. Easier just to learn to tolerate a varied world.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

It's not threatening, it's not something we want to show approval of.

ROFLMAO

You mean you actually think that being gay is a choice?

BUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Minority votes against gay rights have more to do with unrelated corellations with religious affiliation. Latinos are heavily Catholic; Catholic doctrine is anti-gay-rights. Ditto African Americans and the Baptist church (and other evangelical protestant denominations).
