I'm surprised that there haven't been more moments of head scratching wonder so far. They've done a good job. Some of it is retarded, like The crow thing, did nobody really notice a crapload of dead birds all over the planet? Or, if something like this has happened before, would it really take that much time to find out about it? They were reading intelligence reports, wouldn't whoever was compiling those reports, look for any similar occurrences? I thought it was a bit retarded as well. Scientists, especially scientists working in that field with birds , would have picked up on something that big and drew the connection before the FBI did as the data appeared to be from a scientific database. I hope we don't see something like this again where something has affected the entire planet in PLAIN SIGHT of everyone but only weeks or months later they only just come across it. Aristes Posted October 15, 2009 Share Posted October 15, 2009 I think folks are a little harsh on Flash Forward on account of the crow angle. Yes, it struck me also. Two things, though. 1 -- While they should have mentioned it in the show, it's quite possible that specialists in the field were trying to make noise about the sudden drop in crow population, but no one was listening. After all, with the world suffering from a catastrophic event, maybe most folks weren't worried about the birds. Remember, the only reason the nazi thought of it was because of his flash forward and the "murder" of crows. 2 -- It's tv. Sure, you can see those breaks in continuity and all, but tv is just that way. It's like the problems you see in LOST or Fringe, or any other show. Frasier is my favorite tv series and it has all sorts of no-brainer inconsistencies. I guess that's a sit-com, so continuity doesn't matter as much. Sure, everyone who happened to be driving would be in trouble, but it would hardly be the vision of the apocalypse the show proposed. Even more than the bird, I would think that airplanes wouldn't just fall out of the sky. Sure, helicopters might bite it and I can see other problems that would occur, but I thought planes midway would go to autopilot. I'm not a pilot, though, so I wasn't sure. The speed-limit around built-up areas (i.e. cities and towns) here is 50 km/h. I just can't see that speed causing so much mayhem. And if you take planes and air traffic out of the equation, there's not much left to cause damage. Nuclear reactors wouldn't blow up if left unattended for 2 minutes. Fatigue kills a lot of folks and the areas where we saw bad crashes had fast moving cars. Plus, I think the FBI's response to the sudden crow deaths is probably what they'd tell any scientists who came to discuss the matter. I still think that the problem with the airplanes is kind of perplexing, though. There were areas of smoke coming from buildings from around the city, and I wonder if those were caused by small airplanes that were in manual control and helicopters. I don't know how that would work, but I do know that even relatively slower moving car can still cause a lot of damage, not in terms of explosions, but because of rolling and hitting trees and whatnot. The bus thing was kind of freaky. I like the show and I'm probably going to give it good amount of leeway. I just don't want it to be completely stupid. ...And, while I can enjoy LOST, please, try not to have thoroughly stupid mind ****ing games. I didn't see the first episodes, so that's undoubtedly part of it...but I still think I wouldn't find it interesting, beyond the on-paper premise. But I don't like Lost or Fringe either. Either way crazy stuff and hot lesbianism equates into relative entertainment for 40 minutes. There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. The could have done so much with the end of the previous episode and instead just split the loaf and tried to have it both ways with the chic and then devolved into sucky melodrama. As far as your point, gfted, I think the CIA did know. That's why they wouldn't release the photographs to the FBI. What's weird is that other intel operations didn't see it or were in on it? I figured that Al would commit suicide before he did, but not too terribly long before. I mean, my suspicions elevated when he remembered his flash forward talking about having "killed" Cecile and smiling afterwards. He prepared one of the dishes he remembered fondly from his youth. I hadn't figured it out after he grabbed the gun and played Russian Roulette. He really was suicidal at that point. Frankly, they really did have to show, decisively, that something could happen to negate the flash forwards. All in all, I'm still cautiously optimistic. After the Holloween episode, I had my doubts. I actually would rather they'd killed off the chic. I think it would have made more of an impact and I liked the black agent more, but I understand why they did it the way they did. I'm looking forward to next episode. I hope they wipe that stinking hung dog look off of Benford's face and give him a stiffer upper lip. Geez, we get it, but stop acting like an idiot already. That and I just couldn't care less about his melodramatic relationship with his wife. I've got my own melodramatic realationships with my family and friends. An s&m club where people pass the time by playing Russian roulette ?, is that really what people would be thinking if they knew they were going to die. It doesn't seem to fit with how people diagnosed with a terminal condition spend their day. It seems to me people in that situation would be looking for purpose, salvation, rather than an orgy. Also there are some excellent possibilities for philosophical comment, the surface of which have barely been scratched. I was focusing more on Al than the blue hand thing, but it did strike me that folks wouldn't go so nuts just because they figured they were goners. I turned to my wife and made the same observation you just did about folks being diagnosed with terminal illnesses.
