Meshugger Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 (edited) License costs that go directly to MS, Sony or Nintendo. (= console plebs are simply dumb, dirty, and stupid enough to pay for it) With the PC being an "open" platform, there is no such extra cost. Wrath of Dagon Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 There's about a $10 difference due to the license fee. But I also noticed PC games generally tend to be discounted quicker and deeper than console games, may be due to price pressure from piracy, not sure. Purkake Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 The consoles also have a huge used game market with slightly cheaper games.
Monte Carlo Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 (edited) Is this a regionalised phenomenon? In the UK the difference isn't as pronounced. L4D Game of the Year Edition on the XBox 360: Edited July 30, 2009 by Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 ^ Thinking about it every year Brits go to NY for their Xmas shopping, exchange rates willing, because Stuff's Cheaper There. Now, games are now cheaper in Europe since the Credit Crunch. If Americans are visiting the UK you might as well stock up on PC titles (dunno if the console titles are regionalised). I remember buying IWD: Heart of Winter in Las Vegas in 2001, it was much cheaper there. Not so now I suspect.
Kaftan Barlast Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 In sweden is always exactly 100 SEK more than the PC version, sometimes 200. PC will go for 499, 360 will go 599 and PS3 might go up to 699. Just when the 360 came, it was +100 for xbox and +200 for 360 vs the PC versions. 1 sek = DISCLAIMER: Do not take what I write seriously unless it is clearly and in no uncertain terms, declared by me to be meant in a serious and non-humoristic manner. Kaftan Barlast Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 (edited) No, I completely screwed up the rates because a friend of mine was shouting at me to go grocery shopping. Its supposed to be 100 sek = $13.32 or €9,41 And thats what we got for voting no to the euro, although at the time it was relatively sensible to so because the price on absolutely everything would have gone up %5-10 while the wages would have remained at the same level. Mamoulian War Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Games are still pretty good value here, the bargain bins are overflowing with recent two-for-one deals. Yeah I buy all my games in the UK by post... Because even old games like Metal Gear Solid 4 or Devil May Cry 4 still cost here about 2500 old SKK (aprox 82 new EUR) which is totaly retarded and people are still wondering why is piracy so common in ex-communistic countries...
