Obsidian podcast

Ive had fun drinking over the NWNPodcast from a stein full of beer! If I was to say anything to extreme.. having team mates with better judgement at the time to edit stuff out works great. The way I look at it is since it is a show for the game that also includes drinking in it also why not in a Podcast? Plus im not being paid at all to consider being a robot worker and can be human all I want and have fun. we have drawn the line on cuss words and that is fine with me since were creative enough without needing them or having them really slip out or come to mind. But if you wanted to sware worse then Popeye the sailor ya could since alot of other gaming Podcasts do so.

They can very easy include guests from all over the world if they wanted to in a Podcast , We have for the NWNP. Just dealing with time zones of guests we have to find someone from our team that can make time when the guest is free to have a online audio meeting with us.

But really any of you can start up your own podcast to talk about gaming or focus on Obsidian games.

On the idea of podcasting here. Would people from other countries be allowed to converse on the show? Like ask a question or would we submit them in before hand?

I'm in Japan and the time difference is really hard depending on what time a live cast could be done to be actually able to communicate live.

Most podcasts are not recorded live.(it takes a lot more effort and tech) It would be much better to send mp3s via email or just plain emails like in most podcasts.

The idea is that the Obsidian crew does the podcast. I want to hear their take on things, not just stuff about Obsidian. There are enough fan podcasts, we need more "offical" podcasts these days.

I hope this idea takes off from the ground. There are so many wonderful ideas that could be aired and then could be posted here as feedback on the issue that was brought up in the podcast. Not that such an idea couldn't happen here on the board like that but the podcast would and should be able to reach more I would assume?

It was only by dumb luck I found this place. So here's hoping for the best on this project idea.

Question out of curiosity, has any of Obsidian's games been released in Japan?

That's a good question. I'll have to look. A friend of mine did say that he saw NWN2 for the PC here that was in Japanese. The next time I'm in the stores I'll look to see what all makers are there. I do know that bioware and MS can be found as well as some Blizzard games. But as for Obsidian can't really say because until NWN2 came out I never really knew that they were a company. I thought they were fan based people joining together to make mods or expansions. Sorry about that guys. But since I know a bit better about them I can keep a better eye out.

An official Obsidian podcast would be cool!

There is only one fan podcast for NWN.

And a search doesnt show any other podcast for other Obsidian games.

I would very much like to know what Obsidian's devs think about the Wii, or DRM, or even casual gaming.

Or just random drunks yelling would do.

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Any comments from the team about this podcast? Agreed about the knowing what the devs think about consoles and other aspects of gaming.

It's still being thought about...it's not something that can just be thrown together. Not if you want to do it right, at any rate.

Well, if you are launching your first podcast, the "Faces Behind Obsidian" would be a good way to start. A general overall introduction to the Obisidian studio as well as its staff is usually very well received by the public.

You could shoot it as a 'day in the life' someone coming in to Obsidian to work...meetings, the cafeteria, etc.

The first podcast should serve an overview of the company and the people. Then you can go in -depth with further podcasts.

To bad none of us could interview the staff and then put up as a podcast. Talk about being behind closed doors. Or could we actually do that?

Reporting live from the lounge area of Obsidian building. Here we have some of the dazzling minds behind the name. Blah, blah, blah.

Well, I can dream, right?

Yeah, sorry for this clumsy intro - but a podcast would do great, or a company blog that you talked about. It could be learning experience and changes in the company from the start until now, what you guys want to in the future (what kind of games...), what will happen to gaming industry.

It really doesn't matter what you talk about, I think it will be a fun thing both for the audience and for you. You could also improve your relation to the community (even though it's already great) by answering fan questions in the podcasts >_<

I know what you mean but I think that GFW Radio proved that you can make an amazing podcast with little to no preparation.

That is right on the money. It's all about the personalities and chemistry. I would rather listen to a bunch of awesome people talk about pain drying than some boring people who don't really want to be there talk about SuperAwesome stuff.
