Walsingham Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I'm in the middle of writing presentation, and it has occured to me that we need a new word for the phrase "cut and paste". The inclusion of the "and" in the middle messes with grammar something fierce. Recalling our recent heated discussions on the English language it seems to me that we should be able to concoct a new single word which elegantly or crudely sums up the action of cutting and pasting. Once options are presented we will vote in the second round, and then try to spread the meme as far as possible. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
Rosbjerg Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Good idea.. The only thing I can think of right now is "Cupase", which isn't that good. Fortune favors the bald.
Gorth Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Relocation of information within user specified boundaries! Isn't it pronounced cut'n'paste? “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
Gorgon Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 It doesn't mess with grammar at all. It might fool a spell checker into using too many commas though. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
Gorgon Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 How about 'move' Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
Killian Kalthorne Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 "Clipped placement." "Your Job is not to die for your country, but set a man on fire, and take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."
Trenitay Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Custe. Hey now, my mother is huge and don't you forget it. The drunk can't even get off the couch to make herself a vodka drenched sandwich. Octopus suck.
Rosbjerg Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 How about 'move' - couldn't see the forest for the trees. Fortune favors the bald.
Walsingham Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Custe. My favourite so far. i was thinking something like "hufflug" "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
Arkan Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I don't think this is really necessary. All you would do is confuse the masses. They are two separate actions, and telling someone to simply "move" something would lead to lots of blank looks. Otherwise you'd thing with copy and paste...granted, it would be easier to cup up with a word like "copaste." Cut n' paste is probably the best you could hope for. "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta
theslug Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I shall quote a very useful phrase from 4chan thus making me a 6 letter word starting with an f but here goes: Copy Pasta Rolls off the tongue quite nice and very friendly There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.
Darth InSidious Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) Duplicolocation. Edited January 6, 2009 by Darth InSidious This particularly rapid, unintelligible patter isn't generally heard, and if it is, it doesn't matter.
taks Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Word wants you to use the phrase "cut, and then paste" to be precise, which makes sense since "cut and paste" is really a shorthand (though not very) phrase. taks comrade taks... just because.
Walsingham Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 My favs so far; "custe" and "copaste" for functionality Any more flowery words? Copaste should be the technical term. but how about the action of copasting smugly, or ineptly? "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Killian Kalthorne Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 transformational juxtapositioning. "Your Job is not to die for your country, but set a man on fire, and take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."
Walsingham Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 transformational juxtapositioning. That's two words, nutloop. "It wasn't lies. Gorth Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 ^C^V It's a bit hard to pronounce though. “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
Walsingham Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 ^C^V It's a bit hard to pronounce though. Possibly with a bantu tongue clicking noise? "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
