Zombie survival

So don't run around naked and always carry a firearm of some sort?

This sounds easy. Surely the zombies have something more up their sleeves.

The point of any of the many zombie training films is always that the zombies aren't really very smart. What kills the protagonists is that they are untrustworthy shiftless morons.

Photosynthesis? You mean like Zombie Triffids? Now that's scary. Do they have stings and inexplicable control over satellite weaponry?

Satellite weaponry?

Yes. Star Wars lasers and the like. Whatever's up there. The Triffids managed it, or at least the book hinted that they did and it fits Wyndham's general view of mankind bringing about its own destruction.

There you'll be, all kitted out with your baseball bat and various machine guns and then zap! - the zombies take you out with an orbital laser.

As a general rule, any opponent smart enough to field an orbital laser array deserves to get me. I would feel almost rude if I failed to die.

Watching the first episode of Dead Set right now. Good post Wals. At the part where he sacrifices the dude in the wheelchair to the zombie. Pretty awesome.

There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

Unfortunately Dead Set isn't available here - so I have to wait to see it until some TV station buys the rights and airs it.

I saw some trailers and clips on YouTube and it looked pretty cool - thought it was like a joke series at first (from the description), but it seem quite serious?

It is funny when it counts, and switches to serious when it works. It's inherently a funny and poignant idea, IMO.

Of course there's zombies. And they're nazi zombies.

Sweet. I hate the moral ambiguity of killing liberal zombies.

Would you kill zombie kittens?

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

You know how most of our parents were jhoping we;d not turn out homosexual? I'm fine about that, but I worry about my kids being into animal rights.

Animal rights is one thing, but PETA takes it way beyond the point of reason. (reminds me of a recent Zero Punctuation where he mentions releasing a lab creature that knows nothing about life in the wild, into the wild, and watch it get eaten in five minutes by a hawk.)

Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition!

Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.

If nobody else did, Mark Twain clearly foresaw the threat of future beyond-the-grave activities by Ms. Austen. Two illustrative quotes :

"Everytime I read 'Pride and Prejudice' I want to dig [Jane Austen] up and beat her over the skull with her own shin-bone."

"Jane is entirely impossible. It seems a great pity that they allowed her to die a natural death."
