Aristes Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Desmond was a great addition to the show. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Hurley, that shaggy haired, fat arsed hippy. ...But Kate drives me crazy, and I can't stand Jack. Sawyer is okay, which isn't okay, since he's supposed to be so hard. Instead, he's so damned sentimental. Actually, that's realistic. I've known some really rough characters (as in kick your arse twelve way from tomorrow rough... yeah YOU, tough guy) who would cry over stupid crap. I like Sawyer anyhow, I guess. I also like Locke. Too bad he's completely INSANE. I also really liked Charlie. Now that Charlie is gone, Desmond is the only character I unreservedly enjoy. Well, and Sayid and Hurley, I guess. Anyhow, the opener for this season was great. I'm thinking of getting the whole series on brd. I got a player for Christmas, and the show is good and I don't have it on DVD already. Keep up the great work, ABC. As usual the good outshines the bad in LOST.
Pope Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 (edited) No one seems to give a rat's ass about Claire anymore. Also, yay for the old lady. I always knew she'd make a reappearance. Edited January 23, 2009 by Pope
Gfted1 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Where is Claire anyway? Did she die last season? I thought the season premier was pretty good and I liked the "skipping through time" plot. One thing though, wouldnt they too reset every skip? Like a bunch got redshirts got killed by the flaming arrows. Wouldnt they come back on the next skip ala the beach camp that comes and goes? Kor Qel Droma Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 Is it obvious to anyone else that the white haired chick is Faraday's mother? Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
Aristes Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Since Jack's dad is dead, folks assume that Claire is also. After all, they have the same mannerisms now and whatnot. I'm not convinced that Claire is dead, though. That whole prophecy thing about raising her child alone makes me think that she's just been taken captive or something. ...But, yeah, they're in Jacob's crab shack. The series has a lot of bolts to tighten before the end, but it's been pretty entertaining at any rate. Favorite LOST moment? Sawyer: "I've never killed a man." (Kate drinks) (Sawyer drinks) and Sayid: "Unfortunately for us both... you are wrong."
Pope Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Is it obvious to anyone else that the white haired chick is Faraday's mother? Not so obvious really. For one, Faraday isn't British. Second, he said his mother was in Oxford, while the chick Ben visited is in L.A. It's not impossible though. I had this theory a while ago that the white haired chick and the bald black guy (from The Wire) are the two big players Locke suggested back in S1 with his backgammon game. One stands for destiny and course correcting it, the other for free will and breaking destiny. Desmond was the cause of all major events (plane crash, hatch implosion, keeping Charlie alive long enough to break the code so the ship would find the island), he is the two players' mutual friend (hence the title of his Dickens novel).
Pope Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Favorite LOST moment? There's many. Sawyer in S2 upon stealing the guns from the hatch: "There's a new sheriff in town boys, y'all best get used to it." the meeting between Locke and Eko: "hello" - "hello" and just about every Henry Gale scene in S2 man season 2 really was the sh!t
Hurlshort Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Woo, good to be back! I'm really tired of Kate, she's super whiny. She needs to take a lesson from the new and improved Sun. Good episode overall though. Hurlie rocks.
Kor Qel Droma Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 I wish they would hire a voice coach for Kate. She always sounds so...Canadian. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
Pope Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I'm really tired of Kate, she's super whiny. She needs to take a lesson from the new and improved Sun. It's true, Kate seems to be the only character that hasn't evolved a bit throughout the series.
Aristes Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Well, since I never liked her in the first place, and she hasn't changed, it should make sense that I don't like her now. I always thought Claire was a cutie. The women on LOST have been fairly lackluster. I think Rose, Claire, and Sun are my faves. Julliette really isn't so bad, though.
Pope Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 (edited) Looking back to the cast back in season 1, I've realized how far Lost has come. The cast has definitely improved over the years. Characters like Desmond, Ben, Juliet and Faraday add much more to the show than say Boone, Shannon, Michael and Charlie. Too bad though that Eko and Rousseau are gone. Would've been nice to see them warping through time. I also really hope Jin's still alive somehow. Edited January 26, 2009 by Pope
Hurlshort Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I can almost guarantee Jin is still alive. Sun is going to get back to the island, and they will basically have changed identities. She will be the cold one with blood on her hands, and he's going to be the warm and compassionate one. I would be shocked if they don't go that route.
Pope Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 (edited) sorta spoiler, just something I noticed Daniel Dae Kim, aka Jin, still appears in the credits along the regulars Edited January 26, 2009 by Pope
Gfted1 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I think he had to be in the credits. Didnt he appear in a flashback when Sun was talking to Kate about how she left him behind on the tanker? "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"
Pope Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I think he had to be in the credits. Didnt he appear in a flashback when Sun was talking to Kate about how she left him behind on the tanker? He was listed in both episodes, while he only appeared in the second one, and even then too shortly to be credited along the regular cast rather than just as a guest appearance.
Rosbjerg Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I wonder how many LOST nerds they have on staff to keep track of the stories. Fortune favors the bald.
Gfted1 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Awesome episode last night. Im guessing Faraday tried to send the catatonic womans brain through time (like he did with the rats) and her current state is the result. Also, the redhead is probably displaying symptoms of impending coma due to the time shifts? If so, why only her? I liked seeing some of the backstory of Whitmore too. Pidesco Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I'm enjoying the new season a lot. "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian touristI am Dan Quayle of the Romans.I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands.Heja Sverige!!Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
Rosbjerg Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Yes it's pretty cool, although it's getting quite complicated.. Hard to keep track of it all.. Is Faraday like eternally jumping through time or something - seems he's been everywhere. Fortune favors the bald.
Kor Qel Droma Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 Seeing that we've witnessed Faraday in 1950 last night, 1970-ish in the season opener, as well as in Desmonds' past, I'd say a resounding yes, Ros. And speaking of Faraday, who is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters, from what I've been reading today the white haired Dharma chick is named Eloise Hawking. Didn't young Widmore ( which is a whole other topic, methinks) call her Ellie? The girl who escorted Dan to the h-bomb? Maybe she 'looked familiar' to him because she's his mother, which is a theory I'm going to support. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.

Her accent is a problem, though. Also, who is Faraday's dad? I really hope Desmond manages to save Charlotte. Hurlshort Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 The Whitmore twist was fantastic! I didn't see that coming at all. Also, no need for the spoiler brackets. Nobody should read this thread unless they are caught up on the latest episode. I purposefully avoid it until I watch it, even though I usually do so a few days late.
