There is too much of that around for free to tax my brain like this.

Yeah, but how much free hardcore porn has Lavos in it?

The answer is the ammount of free hardcore Lavos porn found after completing the site.

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the galaxy. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips. I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my viens. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk, and free throw. I am there.

The real trailer was before Transformers dudes, I saw it before I saw the ARG associated with it.

The production title for the movie is Cloverfield, it doesn't have an actual name yet.

It is being shot completely with handheld cameras, the entire budget IIRC is thirty million dollars.

The trailer reminded me of Tremors, what with the flying fiery metal bits and giant worm monster. The hype associated with the movie has me reminded of Lovecraft.

Okay, some questions. Where was there a giant worm in the trailer and when was there flying fireballs in Tremors?

Also, when has there ever been a lot of hype about a Lovecraft movie?

It'd be pretty funny if the movie was somehow Lovecraftian, but I'm sure it won't be.

I actually had a funny idea once about an At the Mountains of Madness movie. It'd be shot entirely in a Discovery Channel type documentary style, like Cousteau exploring the sea, as if it was just field footage being filmed for the purpose of making an educational picture. It'd be a film presented by the survivors, produced by the Miskatonic University, with the lead Cousteau character initially pleading the audience not to watch it and claiming that he is only bringing the footage to light to keep the world from continuing his work. It would even be narrated by David Attenborough, who would eventually descend into madness as he reads the film to its end.

Basically, imagine this except with Elder Things, eyeless penguins, and a shoggoth.

I only watched it once, and it was kind of blurry, but there was definitely a giant worm monster that popped up and smashed some stuff up.

The flying fireballs looked kind of like the Assblasters, which were a staple in the later Tremors movies.

Ethan Hass is the bag boy at the supermarket down the street. He's the little boy riding his first bicycle without training wheels. He's the attractive girl that you want to ask to the movies, but can't come up with the courage to do so. He's the top student in the Maryland Mathmatics League. He's the woman who is trying deprestely to make her own way in the business world and prove she is just as good as any man. Ethan Haas is the young man trying desperately to find love in this town that'll eat you up and spit you back out, this cold world where no matter how hard you try, nothing ever comes out your way, and you keep on getting back up and trying, just to be slapped down again, becaus eyou're too niave and stupid to realize that you should just give up. Some people would tell you that there is a little bit of Ethan Haas in all of us.

Oh my goodness, I thought I was alone in this obsession here. Okay, hate to crush your bubble of hoping that this site was related to project "Cloverfield" in any way, but, sorry.

This is what JJ said at AICN

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your support of our little movie. I can't wait to talk to you more about it -- of course, knowing you, by the time we talk you'll know more than I will.

Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we're doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn't kick some massive ASS, who gives a rat's about what's online? So as you can imagine, we're focusing mostly on THAT. For what it's worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us.

Stay cool the rest of the summer -- and thanks per usual for AICN!

JJ

I was just about to cry. I thought it would have been so cool! But alas, tis not related at all.

Though, I do have several theories as to what this and most relate to the Bible. And no, it's not Godzilla, Voltron, or the Power Rangers for those who wonder. Nor is it a lion or a giant whale or Yellowcard riding a whale/lion. And it's not the monster from Lost. It's gotta be Apocalypse related in some way.

People think he denied it as part of a misinformation campaign to create confusion as well as hype.

I don't think JJ would flat out lie to us. The other site, the parasitemovie.com thing is also not affiliated. But I think cloverfieldmovie.com and some other site, like akm.com or something like that are affiliated, but they aren't activated yet. The slusho is definitely affiliated considering someone wears a slusho shirt in the trailer and that Rob is going to Japan and it's a Japanese product. So, yeah, there's connections.

I'd like to see more of that in snickers ads. "The chairman of Mars foods today announced he "Had no ****ing clue where that ad with the guitar guy came from. It totally sucked." "

Imagine that. J.J. Abrams doing something cryptic and confusing to build hype for his project. Surely, this would be the first time misdirection has been involved with one of his works.

He's never really misdirected with us before. Just made us go bat-**** crazy over stuff by confusing the hell out of something and throwing in numbers, which he has done again *sigh*. Really, he just makes us run in circles. I don't think he'd flat out lie about the Ethan Haas thing, though.

Well you think what you think and I'll think what's right.

You go for that. And I'll go back to cracking open the Bible and finding more verses in it that correlate to the numbers again.

I was wondering that too Aram. I didn't see any worm monster.

Are we talking about the trailer from the Ethan Haas site or the one that was shown before Transformers?

Because there was definitely a giant worm monster that popped out and thrashed around, very briefly.

I'd go looking for it but I'm stuck with dialup here and they've got streaming video blocked at work.

I'll have to do it at school but we're on break until next Wednesday.

I am telling you there is no goddamn worm. That was probably in the bottle tequila you were having an affair with while you watched the trailer.
