Well...i have watched alien 10000000 times, and there are some things in my post totally new for me...like the ICC conexions and functions, the BCA etc...

Its based on a Aliens-RPG email-game. Have tons of information based on the "Aliens: Colonial Marines Technical Manual" by Lee Brimmicombe-Wood (a must buy book, believe me).

This is a really nice map. This map represents only 24% of all the more than 300 surveyed worlds spoken of in the Aliens movie; about 71 worlds are represented here. However, please keep in mind that the worlds represented here are the only ones being terraformed and/or populated at this point.

Having played the PnP game I echo Meta's question. We were given to understand the Corporations were everything, vastly overmatching any Terran power.

That can't be totally legit. "Yuggoth" is also an alternate dimension in the Cthulu mythos. Somehow I suspect that was added in by fan writers, rather than... whoever it is that makes Aliens canon.

There really is nobody who makes or determines Alien canon. The only real "canon" it has is what is explicitly seen in the movies.

Aliens universe background its hard to find, but there are some oficial sources, movies, scripts from movies, oficial books, "alien book 1979", "Colonial marines technical manual" etc...

Not to be (too much of) a party pooper, but I have read many "official" books for a lot of franchises ... the clearest to mind being almost all of the Doctor Who stuff; there was always a lot of speculation in the form of assertion, and an awful lot of contradictory stuff. Not to mention "scientific" stuff notably designed by arts majors, and even the reverse (not sure what is worse, tbh). I can distinctly recall, for example, a couple of conflicting diagrams of the internals of a Dalek ...

Yep, but in the films there are a lot of contradictory stuff too...thats the problem about aliens universe storyline.

The movie Alien really only takes course over a day.

 

The one that's really long is Ripley's in Alien3, taking possibly days, and distinctly longer than the other xenomorph impregnation and gestation in the movie. That can be explained away as something special for a Queen, though.

 

Interesting trivia: The Special Edition/Director's Cut of Alien is a minute shorter in length than the theatrical release. I guess I should rewatch the theatrical release.

 

Ridley Scott cut some scenes shorter for the Alien Quadrilogy special edition for the sake of pacing with the addition of the deleted scenes.
