In any case, there's plenty of opportunity to scare people while alone, even if squad mates exist. It depend on if they are trying to make a scary game. I expect something more along the lines of Aliens.

Do we know how long Obsidian is going to have to produce the game? Are you still in pre-production at the moment?

Until sometime in 2009. We are still in pre-production and will be for a very long time.

"Sometime"?

I really hope you are purposefully being vague. I'd hate to see you getting another deadline surprise and the KotOR2-style holiday rush that would ensue.

Volourn will never grow up, he's like the Black Peter Pan, here to tell you that it might be great to always be a child, but everybody around is gonna hate it. :p

2009 is a long ways away.

Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

Yes. Well, you are the first one to voice your indifference in this particular thread.

"Yes" would have sufficed.

2009, I hope the Unreal engine won't be obselete by then

Well, if it has, they can always pull a DNF.

Source is still used and that is over 2 years old (from release of first source engine game).

Besides, have you seen the new Unreal engine?!?!? If that becomes obsolete before the game is released what replaces it might as well look like what it does outside my window.

Yeah, and all sandwiches should be made with ham.

And the world would suffer for there would be no more kosher delis.

well, I'm not really a fan of the Alien franchise. the whole mechanic of it is a little too disgusting for me.

still, if Obsidian knocks it out of the park (as in, almost all pro and amat reviews), I may give it a go.

I think most of you know what title I am looking forward to :shifty: .

I'm for anything that helps keep the lights on and the rent paid if it helps further that end.

Um... Space Balls 3: The Search for Space Balls 2?

Nah, cheese. It goes best with wine.

Throw in some fresh grapes and you won't need the sandwich at all :)

Never played any of the halflifes (or is that halflives?), only Bloodlines which may not really be a good representative of the source engines potential

As long as it got plenty of gore and ragdoll physics :)

No, Bloodlines is a terrible demo for Source, seeing as a buggy unoptimised version was used and the devs didn't know how to use it well. Compare and contrast with Half-Life 2 with its constantly updated version of Source.

Either way its kinda crappy looking now, compared to UE3. Maybe one of the resident codemonkeys can speak with respect to ease of use and stuff.

Yes, they should. Unless you're on a diet.

Was that an attempt at homonym humour?

A good adventure game with a fantastic story?

Adventure as in press A; go to B; then do action C?

Even so adventure is not much of a RPG.

Go, go swingeing generalizations!

Yeah, tbh the combat in SS2 was not the enjoyable part. The atmosphere was excellent.

And would that same creepy atmosphere is there when you do not have to fear brain-exposing monkeys and hear their sque[a]ks from miles away? Would that atmosphere be there when you could just walk wherever you want; unharmed?

Even if the combat is not the best part (agree here) there would be no "good atmosphere" if the game was without it...

I think your understanding of the RPG mechanic is flawed ... what makes you think that an RPG lets one "just walk wherever you want; unharmed"? And are you seriously suggesting that it is not possible to have atmosphere in an RPG?

And here I was under the impression you thought all RPGs were simply dungeon crawls for loot.
