I just hate some of the options that give you evil points. Its stupid. Like

"I want you to go down into this horrible undead filled crypt to see if someone is there"

"Uh, ok... do I get paid for this?"

"WHAT!? You horrible evil bastard!"

Lol, I know what you mean. I returned from the ruins and told the guy his backpay was gone - Chaotic shift (yay). Then I talk to the parents and say something like "you shouldnt make up stories" - BAM, 3 point Good shift.

EDIT: And thanks to those that answered my question. I guess that makes sense of the Warlocks need to be Chaotic and/or Evil.

Warlocks get their power from innate ties to Infernal sources (hence the evil part) or Fae sources (hence the Chaotic part)

Its stupid. Playing the part of a mercenary is not evil, it would be more neutral than good or evil.

After playing quite a bit more of this, I have to say this time Sawyer better not downplay his achievement.  I swear to goodness, if he ridicules his efforts on this one, I'm going to hunt him down and punch in the snot box.  ...And he's younger and stonger than me, so that's no small doing.

Let me help him out here.

As I approach the end of the game the conversations with my party members are just the same as they were at the start. Some party members still refuse to tell me things that I learned from other sources a long time ago in their presence. Any number of people are in two places at once. Sand regularly speaks when not present. Some quests are broken. You can go back to the old world by passing through the goblin caves. The game has suddenly become crazy difficult and I have had to switch to easy difficulty level to do anything.

So - while Josh's achievment is impressive :p - they/he should have done more :) - and still should do more  - to finish the game properly :aiee: .

As dark is the absence of light, so evil is the absence of good.

If you would destroy evil, do good.

Evil cannot be perfected. Thank God.

The only achievement I had on NWN2 was getting it (more or less) done. I didn't really lead the design of the game and much of my time was spent revising and cutting, tying up loose ends.

If you keep doing it over and over, I could see an argument otherwise.

Especially given that Evil seems to mean selfish in the D&D world.

that's not true, how alignments are used depend on the DM who interprents them

Well, the DMs in the computer games seems pretty consistent.

It's a weird world if a hungarian understands the meaning of alignment better than some american guys. :D

WTF are you talking about?

That I know what lawful, chaotic, neutral, good, evil means more than many people in the nation where DnD was created.

SO what does Lawful, Chaotic, Neutral, Good, and Evil mean?

It all depends who you ask, where, when, and about what. :shifty:

It's all about opinions, cultures, events, faith, and regional laws

These all can be very different, and it can be that two LG persons look at each other, and think the other one is CE.

Then that means nobody can 'understand it' better than anybody else, right?

That's exactly my opinion. :shifty:

Most rulers organized mercenaries somewhat, and supported them with laws, so these mercenaries could be mostly 'Lawful Something', so the action to ask for payment for something could be considered lawful. If it's considered unlawful to ask for payment for something what's simply right to do (as saving a child), then that can be considered chaotic, evil, or both depending on who you ask about it.

You can't in RL walk around and point on people that 'He's CE!' or 'She's NG!'

The problem is that there is no counter for neutral points. Theres just good and evil ones. So if you are good and ask for payment from a child, thats a neutral action, so you gain evil points and become less good.

Neutral is the 'Neutral Zone',

there is lawful/chaotic and good/evil what can change, its not just good/evil, black/white. :shifty:

PS: a LG character could do it because he's lawful, and not becouse he's good.

Just to get a bit back on topic again...

Got to a point in the game that gave me a good laugh and raise an eyebrow.
