Darque
Thank you, Lare, I hadn't seen that one when I created this one. I think for the time being I'll leave them both open. In light of that, please use this one for "impressions" about the game's content (which the original one started out as), and the other one for general discussions and questions about the game (which the original thread transformed into) Finally, please take all "tech" questions to Skeeter's Junkyard. Thanks.
Volourn
Positive Impression: The joinable npcs - minus a couple - are some of the best ever. Mr. Avellone did a heck of a job. Negative Impression: The main story is beyond linear, and instea dof gaining steam; it's losing it except one certain 'twist'. Mr. Avellone should have written the story too!!!! alanschu
As I mentioned in the other thread, I really enjoyed the entire game. While I finished it in a "short" amount of time, it was mostly due to some rather lengthy game sessions on a weekend where I had not too much planned. Plus, my work (a bunch of geeks at University) all decided to play it on Friday as well. I'm playing through as a Human Paladin this time, going more as a good guy (I was an exploitative Tiefling Rogue my first playthrough).

Kaftan Barlast
I found that the basic camera is best after all. The Baldur's Gate style camera is good when theres alot happening and scrolling whenever a character moves will use up vital system power. My tiefling sorceror can cast fireball now so it feels better. But its really short on clothes in the Sword Coast it seems. Im in Neverwinter now and I have thus far only found two stinking robes, and the first one I couldnt afford. I keep seeing NPC's in fancy outfits but my poor Sorc is still dressed like a poncy hobo DISCLAIMER: Do not take what I write seriously unless it is clearly and in no uncertain terms, declared by me to be meant in a serious and non-humoristic manner. Dark_Raven
The music is very nice. I like how the npcs will bicker with each other, it gives the group realism in not being a bunch of yes men. Pidesco
I'm having a lot less trouble with the camera in NWN2 than I had at first with NWN's camera. Also, I like the new music, but the tunes from NWN are really starting to annoy me. Volourn
"I like how the npcs will bicker with each other, it gives the group realism in not being a bunch of yes men." The problem is that they bicker all the time over the most mundane stuff. They're pretty much all children; not a party. Neeshka is the worst offender, and is why she deserves nothing but poo. Both music tracks are awesome. NWN1 music is still awesome, and most NWN2 tunes are awesome. Sadly, they also snuck in some of the lame NWN1 tunes as well. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta

Oerwinde
Do all the companions have side quests? Or just Khelgar and Neeshka? Also: I agree, best joinables ever. One problem I have though, it seems like Neeshka is the easiest to gain influence with... yet she's the only one that doesn't require any influence. Whats the deal? I was going to suggest that in future patches they should add romance branch for Neeshka since she seemed like the obvious romance choice... then I realized that would require voice acting... which I doubt we'd see in a patch. I do think that if an expansion is developed for this, in addition to the expansion storyline, it should add some more sidequests and such to the official campaign as well. Enoch
Got the game yesterday. Installing and patching took a while, but went smoothly. I was able to play through the whole prologue last night before I shut it off to watch election results (yes, I'm that kind of nerd, too). My first character is a Halfling Rogue2/Transmuter1 who I'll probably build into an arcane trickster. I wanted a class that could test out how all the talky skills work, and I'm not a big fan of bards. The controls seem OK so far, although I haven't budged the camera from the default view mode. (Disclaimer: This is my first 3rd person 3D RPG; so I'm not going to know what I'm missing if the controls for NWN1, WoW, or the like are much better, as the crowd at the BioBoards seems to think.) My machine is a hair below the minimum specs for CPU speed, and a hair above for memory & video: 2.0ghz P4, 1 GB RAM, 6600GT. There was a little stuttering at the transition to the Harvest Brawl (seemed to be more audio than video), but otherwise, everything ran well on the setting that the game recommended to me (I forget what they were besides low textures, and 1024-by-something resolution). Anyhow, I'm looking forward to spending the next couple of evenings with the game. Unfortunately, I have to travel to visit family over the long weekend, so that's all the playing I'll be doing for a while.
