Mortis Nai
Pixies - Cecilia Ann <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No sh*t... Someone else who actually likes the Pixies? I just managed to get a hold of The Purple Tape myself. I was going to name the main contenant of my PW "Velouria" because I didn't think enough people would get the Pixies reference, but decided to opt for being a little more creative. I'm a bit backed up with postage obligations at the moment from another forum, but into the new year, sure. In the meantime, I seem to be the sole proprietor of this gallery deal. Moar people should partake. Early, soundscape-y Autechre, from Incunabula to Tri Repetae, I dig. Their later stuff is a little too obtuse for my taste. Musopticon?
Dismember - Override to the overture I adore the old school Swedish death. That pioneer spirit is so very present and it's not all gore-themed yet. Albums like Edge of Sanity's Spectral Sorrows and Hypocrisy's Penetralia are both great examples. Not that the music is always that good or better than the later albums, but I don't exactly dig the whole americano-gore influence that's so goddamn prevalent nowadays. Darth Drabek
Todd Snider - Thin Wild Mercury To me, one of the most interesting periods in rock history was when Bob Dylan picked up an electric guitar and alienated more than half his fanbase. Snider wrote this song about one of the heated arguments about that time in Dylan history. On the way to the airport, Dylan threw fellow singer-songwriter Phil Ochs out of his limousine, and - metaphorically and literally - left him behind. It was all over some new Dylan song That Phil had the nerve to say sounded wrong Dylan stopped the car, his words shook like a fist "Phil, you ain't a writer, you're a journalist" Death of a rebel, twist of fate If he ever thought better, he thought too late Poor Phil Ochs, he slipped through the cracks Judas went electric and he never looked back Edited November 27, 2006 by Darth Drabek baby, take off your beret everyone's a critic and most people are DJs
