Musopticon? Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Oh damn. I was waiting for the inevitable Russia-USA Crimean war. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds
Arkan Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta

alanschu Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I could see that as an April Fools joke. Something that is fine for us to touch, but gets as hot as the surface of the sun if it touches anything else? Hmmmm.

alanschu Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Fair enough. Not saying it's impossible. Just rather strange. I don't understand the science of it, so I'll write it off as magic.
taks Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 with any luck, gas prices will plunge. this is better than hearing about a new refinery as far as the market is concerned. taks comrade taks... just because.
taks Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 hehe, living by the ocean has a bonus attached now! wait, too bad i don't live by the ocean anymore. maybe we can fashion something out of the mountains? taks comrade taks... just because.
Rosbjerg Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 then of course there's that salt thing involved.. with the sea.. tastes like crap really.. and not too good on engines either... ^_^ Fortune favors the bald.
alanschu Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Yeah. The ocean is probably bad! You can get your gasoline pure from the glaciers taks!
LostStraw Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I didn't see him trying to use it on his skin . That is a flame, combusting Hydrogen and Oxygen -- it'll make you a nice BBQ mouse. From that first bogus claim I have a hard time believing the rest.. but even if it was true, what he made was a hybrid. He may have been getting better gasoline milliage, but he wasn't running on pure hydrogen. His website (http://hytechapps.com/) claims 20-30% increased fuel efficiency, with all the psuedo science (marketing) on that site though, I'm not regarding the claims very highly. The guys patent: http://patft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser...ND+electrolysis Sounds like electrolysis (not a new or novel idea) to me, which is a rather inefficient method for splitting the water into Hydrogen and Oxygen. Another thing I'd like to add is that there is already a large industry for producing Hydrogen gas. I have no doubt they'd be over any technology that would make it more efficient for them to produce it.
LostStraw Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 (edited) From the Wikipedia article: Category: Pseudoscience Until I see some peer reviewed studies.. or just any scientific evidence from a reputable source, I won't take the claims more seriously. Edit: changed "I'll take the claims more seriously." to "I won't take the claims more seriously." -- Looks like I need to have a little more peer reviewing of my own . Dark_Raven Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Wasnt that FOXnews April's fools joke? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fox News is a joke. Time for inventors to look into science fiction for anwsers. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
alanschu Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I would have thought you'd be happy with that sort of news?
Dark_Raven Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I don't watch the news, its propaganda if it deals with politics or events of the world. Well the United States news agencies are like this. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
alanschu Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 So the idea that someone may have actually made something that effectively uses water as a fuel source is completely dismissed because it was on an American news station?
Dark_Raven Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I am speaking of politics, the war effort, terrorism, etc, not science, technology or local events. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
