Jumjalum
So the new WMP is out, and it's still completely sh*te at organising music. It's seemingly impossible to change how an album plays short of creating a new playlist for every album that WMP fails to accurately recognise. Even if you manually go through every track, changing the album and artist names as well as individually specifying track numbers, WMP will ignore your labours and still leave you with half an album in the wrong order. And to top it all off they've removed the right-click-and-choose-album interface so you have to go to the library (which at least is much faster and more improved) and probably end up with your entire collection in the playlist. (Ripping CDs is fine but woe betide you if most of your collection comes from somewhere else.) roshan
Windows media player sucks. Get winamp. The only flaws of winamp (as far as i can tell) are: - you cant add files to your library, only folders. so if you want to add one mp3 track, you need to select the folder and everything gets added. ridiculous. - it doesnt remember what folder i last added to the library. whenever i want to add new music it always goes back to that annoying stupid default folder and i need to navigate through my hd again to the place where i actually keep my music. - when i delete a file from the media library, or add folders, the library scrolls up all the way to the top. then i need to drag the ****ing scroll bar down looking for where i left off. i think the playlist has some similarly annoying problems as well. - no option to physically delete files in the playlist, need to go to the media library to do that. Very annoying and irritating when compared to itunes. The media library feature seems tacked on and could do with a lot of improvement and fine tuning. But the randomization is better, the sound quality is much better, I can shrink it to just a small bar at the bottom of my screen, and I can have my playlist pop out from the side of my screen, with cool transparency effects! Saves a lot of screen space, and makes accessing my music much easier.
Fenghuang
Quintessential CD Player is better than Windows Media Player or Winamp. RIP
Kaftan Barlast
I use WinAmp 5.05 (old) and I see no reason why I should ever use any other player. Its got everything except a proper randomizer, the algorithm it uses always picks the same 30 songs out of 5000. Judge Hades
I use Windows Media Player. It can play all my media files very well and I have no problem in organizing all 130 gig of video and music.
thepixiesrock
I use WMP because it came on the computer, and mostly all of my music are on CDs anyway. But I think it works fine. I haven't had problems with it. BicycleOfDeath
WinAMP - It comes with Vorbis support, and I only use the playlist feature. I'm simple. LadyCrimson
I always forget Windows Media Player is for music. The only time WMP crosses my mind is when I go to sites that tell me 'you can't view this video, go download WMP version #...' :D Always used that old WinAmp. I've been aquiring more MP3's lately tho, so I appreciate the mini-review & comparisons. “Things are as they are. Archmonarch
Jum, I cant decide if the orc in your avatar is riding the boar or using it for "recreational purposes." Also, to stay topical: I use winamp, but dont listen to much music. And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had
