You don't get direct control of what the plot and story is. The DM should obviously have a story outlined but the players should be the ones shaping it through their actions. And that's a type of plot control in itself. As I said, their actions should be molding the story, the world and the NPCs, thus giving a sense of power and independence to the players. That's what they need really. School ended up taking a lot more of my time than I thought it would, work ended up taking still more time (Ha!
