mkreku Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Wow. I bet the Obsidian guys are wringing their hands in anxiety! Will they get mentioned? Will they place in the top 20? Will Feargus dance the naked dance if he'sa a top ten member?! We'll see tomorrow. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Musopticon? Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Will Feargus dance the naked dance if he'sa a top ten member?! We'll see tomorrow. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd prefer not seeing that. This might be interesting, although I have no doubt that mine and their view on what is hot and what's not will differ greatly. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. mkreku Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 (edited) I could bet money on Spore (and Will Wright) taking the number one spot. Also, I could bet money on zero european developers making the list, except perhaps Rockstar (which will place extremely high, naturally). Edit: Typo again. Hurlshort Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I bet it will only be developers at the GDC this week. That's likely why they are writing the piece.
Dhruin Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Also, I could bet money on zero european developers making the list, except perhaps Rockstar (which will place extremely high, naturally). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think you might be surprised. If you said "no Euro RPG developers", I'd agree but in other genres...
Volourn Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 My predictions on some known devs around here: Obsidian: Low - 90 High - 25 Bioware: Low - 75 High - 10 Squaresoft: Low - 30 High - 1 Bethesda: Low - 60 High - 5 Blizzard: Low - 20 High - 1 DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Enoch Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 By "developers," do they mean studios or people? I'd say the latter is far more likely. It would be pretty tough to pad a list of "hot" studios all the way out to 100.
Volourn Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 (edited) Oops. I'm an idiot. I think they mean individuals. LOL :D :"> P.S. That's what happens when you skim... Edited March 20, 2006 by Volourn DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Llyranor Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 #1: Peter Molyneux (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Meshugger Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 (edited) #1: Peter Molyneux <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Him or Will Wright, i wouldn't be suprised of either. Edited March 20, 2006 by Meshugger "Some men see things as they are and say why?""I dream things that never were and say why not?"- George Bernard Shaw"Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man."- Friedrich Nietzsche "The amount of energy necessary to refute bull**** is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it." - Some guy
Musopticon? Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Why was Molyneux orginally hailed as such a messiah, before the B&W "incident? Was it because of his work at Bullfrog? kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Pidesco Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Why was Molyneux orginally hailed as such a messiah, before the B&W "incident? Was it because of his work at Bullfrog? He designed Populous. I'd say that's pretty impressive. ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 http://www.webchats.tv/webchat.php?ID=260 On Monday Miyamoto was invited to Paris to receive a knighthood 'of the Order of Arts and Letters' from the French Ministry of Culture - the first time a videogame designer has been granted such a prestigious award. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327[/snapback]

kumquatq3 Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Guys from Rare made this list? I didn't know Golden Eye was still considered "hot"
metadigital Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Are there even 100 developers known outside the industry? OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Meshugger Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Are there even 100 developers known outside the industry? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you count the Indie-developers as "established" in the industry, then yes "Some men see things as they are and say why?""I dream things that never were and say why not?"- George Bernard Shaw"Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man."- Friedrich Nietzsche "The amount of energy necessary to refute bull**** is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it." - Some guy
mkreku Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I was pretty disappointed with the list, but it was as expected. The Xbox 360 is all the hype right now, and if you've even hinted at having a "next-gen" project ongoing, you made that list. I liked Will Wright, Feargus and a bunch of the japanese veterans, but they "forgot" an awful lot of influential talent out there and promote a bunch of mediocre Xbox 360-people.
