HotU easter egg?

Recommended Posts

I'd maybe buy this, if the original poster asked the question.  It's your own fault for thinking Steve's question was anything more than what it actually said.

Besides, the thread was about a Jade Empire easter egg in HotU, not about Easter Eggs in items.  You're just trying to save face.

If thats what you want to think be my guest.

I have to agree with Volourn.  Bioware is pretty much dead now.  Deals like this kills development studios.

It's because people who play consoles don't have opposable thumbs to pick up items.

PS:

Wasn't Lou Gutman the name that I made fun of Hildegarde with?  Well, he posted something about Lou, and I went on about how he totally just bashed some benevolent dude in New York?

The name sounds familiar.....

When Alanshu is backing me up in this type of silly argument all is lost for our enmies.

Anyways, JE's equipment system wasn't 'very poor'. The fact it got rid of useless junk that you mostly find in, say, HOTU or either KOTOR is a welcomed change.

Both systems are fine. A very poor equipment system is TOEE's where identifying an item means iding it by name only. LOL

As for easter eggs for future BIO games in JE; I don't recall any. But, then again, I'm not one to stalk equipment des riptions or anything else for that matter for easter eggs.

I don't play games for easter eggs. They don't turn me. That said, they can be cool when found or pointed out though.

In many of the CRPGs I play I use equipment to personalize how my character looks and the style in which I play them. In NWN, typically the short sword is more powerful weapon but I like playing a halfling that dual wields daggers. In the KotORs I use various armors to personalize my characters and NPCs.

In Jade Empire there is no significant way to personalize characters.

Yes, there is. The way you treat others (ie. role-playing), the way you complete quests (ie. role-playing), what weapons/styles used, how you interact through the various dialogue skills, the Gem Medallion.

Volourn, that is only part of the picture, not the whole. What is the difference between a person using the Tiger Shen model with Legendary Strike with another Tiger Shen model using Legendary Strike? None whatsoever. Also the whole Gem thing only adds in minor effects and not wholely necessary. Lastly, how one role plays thecharacter has no effect on how the character looks like.

Yes, it is.  When I make my character I want to control every aspect.  How he looks, what he wears, what equipment he uses, what skills he knows, and so forth and so on.  I want the character to be mine.

Then why play CRPGs?

Your bestest CRPG game ever has piss poor character visuals. Even today with amazing 3D graphics, there's still rather restrictive limits on how character can look.

Is it even really possible to have a character "be yours" in a CRPG anyways? IMO there's waaaaaay to finite avenues to explore in any CRPG, excepting maybe a game like Morrowind. In Fallout I have to be THE vault dweller, and in Fallout 2, I have to be the vault dweller's decendant. Baldur's Gate => Bhaalspawn. Morrowind's pretty open, in that you're just a prisoner being put on an island. Gothic series is a bit more open as well.

Because I like CRPGs.

Not completely restrictive. I mean Jade Empire is very restrictive but Fallout wasn't with the various armors, and the BG games you had various armors and colors to choose from as well as voice sets. NWN was very adaptable how one can look like, especially through the use of craft skills. Sure there are restrictions and CRPGs won't ever be completely open but that doesn't mean they should remove the option all together.

Not completely but the more options you can give the player in the form of character development and appearance the better. Such as I felt my character in the NWN expansions was actually my character moreso than the Nameless One in PS:T no matter how I played him. Sure there might be some limitations, for it is a CRPG, but as long as those limitations don't interfere how I design my character I am okay with them. Such as being the Bhaalspawn had no real effect on me making a Halfling FIghter Thief or an Elven Necromancer, but in PS:T I was always the Nameless One with no choice of race, gender, or what not. Sure the Bhaalspawn background is forced but the overall freedom of gameplay is not hampered like being forced to play the Nameless One.

I dunno. I play role-playing games to play a role; not to play Barbie Dressup.

I must be playing wrong genre though if dress up is what my fellow 'role-players' want in their rpgs...

Anybody know what kind of Easters (if any) Obs will be putting into their games?  Not just another tombstone for Feargus I hope.

Maybe the designers have a termination wish. :)"
