Arkan Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 (edited) How can you think that that would be a good thing? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Survival of the species. We learn things from our experiences (or the experiences of others), and we learn what causes us danger/harm. It's what tells the deer to run at the sight of a human these days. Edited February 23, 2006 by Arkan "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta
metadigital Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Deer don't need to run in a nature reserve. Bizarre miscellanea: the fish have learnt where the boundaries of the coral preserves are in developing countries, like Indonesia and the Philippines, where poachers use dynamite to trap tropical fish ... 6 Foot Invisible Rabbit Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I always find myself looking at Arabs or Muslims these days where as I used to just ignore them (like everyone else) but it's like your eye gets drawn to them automatically just to check if they are upto something. Not sure if thats a good or bad thing to be honest. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think that of nearly everyone. Harvey

Yes, it's survival of the species and all that jazz....but it's not a good thing. Either it's not good because you're stereotyping a race, or it's not good because there is a threat, and being threatened is never good.
tic tac Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 I haven't read a single post (well, apart from Jimmy's, above, but that was because I couldn't avoid it when writing this fast reply) but I just wanted to say that, tic tac, I bet you've been waiting for months to be able to write that caption. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh please Meta save us your usual 'intelectual' deduction because your writing nonsense, and you would bet wrong because for me or anybody to be waiting for months to write and post something is quite absurd, don't you think? on topic: more violence

tic tac Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 Then you and me quite differ in terms of perception regarding this issue.
metadigital Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Quite possibly. I was not waiting months to post a topic with the subtitle shi'ite. Nope. Nuh ah. OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
SteveThaiBinh Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Oh please Meta save us your usual 'intelectual' deduction ... Your information page says you only joined two days ago. How would you know what Meta's usual style is? "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
Kaftan Barlast Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Well duh? Because hes an alt of course! And as always, religious conflicts always bring the most gruesome violence because its combatants tend to see their enemy not only as a political enemy but as religious enemy(great satan etc.) that is not human and can thus be righteously treated with inuhman cruelty. DISCLAIMER: Do not take what I write seriously unless it is clearly and in no uncertain terms, declared by me to be meant in a serious and non-humoristic manner. If there is no clear indication, asume the post is written in jest. This notification is meant very seriously and its purpouse is to avoid misunderstandings and the consequences thereof. Furthermore; I can not be held accountable for anything I write on these forums since the idea of taking serious responsability for my unserious actions, is an oxymoron in itself. Important: as the following sentence contains many naughty words I warn you not to read it under any circumstances; botty, knickers, wee, erogenous zone, psychiatrist, clitoris, stockings, bosom, poetry reading, dentist, fellatio and the department of agriculture. BattleCookiee Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Catholics and Protestants in the sixteenth century? Beruit was destroyed in a week by various sects in the 70s Still happening in Ireland... Just taking the children to school became a danger there because the other "religion" would happily kill the kids. <_<
SteveThaiBinh Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Well duh? Because hes an alt of course! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No kidding. I just wanted him to admit it. Catholics and Protestants in the sixteenth century? Beruit was destroyed in a week by various sects in the 70s Still happening in Ireland... Just taking the children to school became a danger there because the other "religion" would happily kill the kids. <_< The Ardoyne school protests were quite unusual in their intensity, even for Northern Ireland. People who've seen thirty-odd years of the Troubles were shocked by this. However, even something as extreme as this doesn't inevitably escalate into ever-wider conflict, and I hope this is the case in Iraq as well. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." Walsingham Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Haven't time to comment in detail. I'd just like to express my sorrow that the bastards have been able to destroy such an important site. 6 Foot Invisible Rabbit Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Live it to the Republicans to drag us into another Vietnam/Korea. If there is civil war I hope Bushie does the smart thing and pull our troops out of there. If the Kurds, Shiites, and Sunnis want to kill each other I say let them. Harvey
