Gabrielle Posted December 30, 2005 Author Posted December 30, 2005 Instead of sabotaging the movie thread lets talk books here. What are you reading now, what do you like to read, etc. Books that have hero vampires are works written by Anne Rice, before she fell from grace, and others who are not as well known like her. Books by Hamilton and Nancy Kilpatrik have vampire "heros". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That would be at the time of "Interview with a Vampire" right ? And It's Nancy Kilpatrick, I've only read "Child of the Night", it was OK, haven't had a chance checkout the rest of "Power of Blood" series. I'm currrently reading "Fundamentals of Thermodynamics" by Richard E. Sontagg, Claus Borngakke and Gordon J. Van wylen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Interview series, yes. The dark heros of Anne's world.
Kaftan Barlast Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 I had the misfortune of reading "The vampire lestat" and I have o say it was about as good as the movie (Queen of the damned) which is to say it stunk badly.. Its extremely depressing that good writers starve while complete morons with no talet or taste whatsoever like Rice sell by the millions. I think having poor taste should be punishable by death, it would greatly improve the world. DISCLAIMER: Do not take what I write seriously unless it is clearly and in no uncertain terms, declared by me to be meant in a serious and non-humoristic manner. If there is no clear indication, asume the post is written in jest. This notification is meant very seriously and its purpouse is to avoid misunderstandings and the consequences thereof. Furthermore; I can not be held accountable for anything I write on these forums since the idea of taking serious responsability for my unserious actions, is an oxymoron in itself. Important: as the following sentence contains many naughty words I warn you not to read it under any circumstances; botty, knickers, wee, erogenous zone, psychiatrist, clitoris, stockings, bosom, poetry reading, dentist, fellatio and the department of agriculture. "I suppose outright stupidity and complete lack of taste could also be considered points of view. "

Dark Moth Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam Very good book, and very provocative. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just as long as you realise that what you read in that book is not objective and unbiased information. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yup. Well, nothing's really objective when it comes to things like this. Even the stuff they teach you about Islam in school is biased. The guy does however back up his statements with historical sources, including the Quran and Hadith. It's very interesting, if not just for the alternative viewpoints.

Good times I do actualy believe she actually described a Keytar solo in the book, and it has been scientificly proven that the Keytar solo is the most blatantly *** form of 80s poodle-metal solo known to man. Its so taboo that few people even remember they existed. Calax Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Mus? pick up the three kingdoms saga... it's long as heck but a good read. I finished "web or arachnos" by Wienberg... It gives some nice backround for City of Heros... Last week I read the First four and the last Xwing books. Now I've got Cable vs. Deadpool stuck in my head. "Every kid should have a parent that loves them, teaches them how to use a gun, and only shows them good P0rn!" Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
Gabrielle Posted December 31, 2005 Author Posted December 31, 2005 The good old days. Hair bands and big hair.

Gabrielle Posted December 31, 2005 Author Posted December 31, 2005 I just bought Underworld Evolution, based on the soon to be released movie, today.
foxdez Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 I just bought Underworld Evolution, based on the soon to be released movie, today. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm really pumped to see that movie and now that you mention it I'm going to look for that book.
PhantomJedi Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Recently I've read The Scarlet Letter by Hawthorne, The Orchid Thief by Orlean, The Virtue of Selfishness by Ayn Rand, Catcher in the Rye by Salinger, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Kesey, and I am soon going to start reading The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. But for fun I read the Harry Potter series and the Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini because they are a nice escape from the crazy world we live in. I really do recommend the Inheritance Trilogy, Eragon; Eldest; and the last book Paolini is currently working on, because he tries to mix in some light philosophy in to his writing and his writing style showcases his love of nature and the outdoors but never gets in the way of the story which in a way is sort of epic.

Musopticon? Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Grass as my Pillow by Lian Hearn. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds

Child of Flame Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Vash is the world's first illiterate highschool teacher.
Dark_Raven Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 The collected works of Samuel Taylor Coleridge Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Oerwinde Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Currently re-reading A Storm of Swords before I break down and go to the library to take out A Feast for Crows. Best fantasy series I've ever read so far. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
Laozi Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Recently I've read The Scarlet Letter by Hawthorne, The Orchid Thief by Orlean, The Virtue of Selfishness by Ayn Rand, Catcher in the Rye by Salinger, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Kesey, and I am soon going to start reading The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would have thought that you might have already read The Catcher in the Rye as it has a particuliar importantance to your avatar. Strangly enough I'm reading George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones for the first time. I have to say I have not enjoyed a book this much in some time. The intrigue has me staying up way past my bedtime to read. People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.
SteveThaiBinh Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I'm reading Jung Chang's biography of Mao - I waited nearly six months to get to the top of the library's waiting list. Apparently, Mao stayed away from his mother's bedside when she was sick and dying because he wanted to preserve his image of her as she was. The author considers this to be selfish, showing regard only for his own feelings and not for his mother. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
Magena Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Currently reading "Tuesdays with Morrie" well, actually, currently reading the boards. but the hard copy book I'm reading is "Tuesdays with Morrie" then again I'm also listening to "S is for Silence" ... not one of the best imho.
