Other than the giant gold-mosque, what historic reference do Islam have to the holy city? Just curious. Kinslayer Posted December 11, 2005 Share Posted December 11, 2005 (edited) All I know that the reconquest of Jerusalem was somekind of a new beginning for Islam, some cleric wrote it when he described Saladin's victories...anyways in Quran if I remember correctly Jerusalem is being refered as the 'Furthest Mosque' and that Jerusalem was the starting point of Mohammed's visit to Heaven. And don't forget one of the most famous mosque - the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, or is it the outskirts of Jerusalem?
