Post count is often used to measure a person's participation within the community. We might not remember every active person in the community, but we can look at post counts and see whether they are serious about being here or just dropping in to start crap. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah, but if you are active within the community you are also visible, which, depending on if you are visible for the right reasons, is better than a postcount. Antimatter is quite right; if you participate, you get seen. E.g No one thinks Commissar as a newbie, he's so visible a character. Yeah, and if I get to choose, we'd get rid of post counts entirely.
