Child of Flame Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 I thought you were Daffy. What the heck, you never start out with Rabbit Season if you're Bugs, you have to go back and forth. You suck at cartoons!
jaguars4ever Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 (edited) I can only think of a few games that've used this setting (Outlaws, Desperados, Wanted!, RED DEAD REVOLVER) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't have a PS2 or an Xbox so it doesn't count. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *tsk tsk* And you lot call yourselves western fans. How can you forget the legendary Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist? :D Edited September 30, 2005 by jaguars4ever
Musopticon? Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Yes <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds
jaguars4ever Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 You guys done yet? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No.
mkreku Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 I wouldn't say GTA: San Andreas is a RPG, but the weird thing is that I ended up playing it as one. There's the very linear main quest where you're just solving mission after mission until you end the game. But then there are lots and lots of 'side-quests' where you're free to do anything you want (basically) and take your time to focus on developing your character. I've spent a lot more than 100 hours in San Andreas (and I still have it installed and play it occasionally) and most of those hours have probably been me just zooming around the landscape, trying to find new things, solving side-quests or just doing stunts and stuff. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Nartwak Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 I wouldn't say GTA: San Andreas is a RPG, Why not? In what ways is it less a RPG than, say, Fable? I'm not following along.

kumquatq3 Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Hey, no kidding? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> see, just wasn't following who is arguing what
SteveThaiBinh Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 ...I'm a sucker for celebrity cameos. Are they a good thing, though? So long as there's enough money left in the budget to hire good voice actors to do the bulk of the dialogue, then maybe it's fine. However, the need to pay a fortune to get a big name on the front of the box is only going to drive production costs up, forcing publishers to insist on bland games to appeal to the masses, right? It might work for certain types of games, but take a truly immersive RPG and have famous voices popping up here and there and it would just destroy the illusion. They'd have to be really good actors to make it work, and big name stars are not necessarily good actors. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
Jumjalum Posted September 30, 2005 Author Posted September 30, 2005 I agree, the perfect balance imo is the experienced cartoon voice actors that were hired for the BG games and don't take up half the budget. I'm a movie junkie however and big names still draw me to a game so long as it doesn't suck. Like Sean Bean, Patrick Stewart and Terence Stamp in Oblivion, for example. We now bring you live footage from the World Championship Staring Final.
