On the history lesson a couple of months ago i learned that "Arbeit Macht Frei" (It was those words who where written at the main gate of Auschwitz) means something like "Work gives freedom". That's some words with an terrible background, tho. :/ And yeah, "Schnell!" means "Hurry!" :D ------- But nah, i prefers Spanish. ^_^ Me gusta hablar espanol! If you're talking about rise of Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei and Hitler to power, then yes. At least in Finland whole "thing" about Germany from end of WWI to WWII is teached, reasons that led to NSDAP's rise to power, economic collapse in twenties etc. then yes If you're talking about something completely different, no How can it be a no ob build. And with that reading stuffs like "One day in Auschwitz" and other similiar stories. And we even had a visist from a former nazi, who told us all about how cruel and corrupted his lifes been. I think it should be better to teach generally the turbulent era from mid 19h century up to WW2 about Middle and Eastern Europe to get a better understanding how and why things stand today. Some Swedish words actually are quite influenced by the german word of the same thing, so a bit of the language actually is quite easy for, well, atleast for me, to understand. That's why I'm currently reading some books from Stefan Zweig, Jospeh Roth, Arthur Schnitzler and (for some fun) Franz Kafka, people who lived around that time period of ~1880 up to the Nazi talkeover of Europe to get a better sensibility from a human perspective. The teacher would ask questions such as "Why was Hitler such a monster" and "Could they have done more to stop him?" and "Who suffered the most from Hitler's actions?" Of course, when I suggested that obviously the Germans tolerated Hitler for so long not just because they were "all brainwashed" but because they admired some of what Hitler did, i.e. initial economic rejuvenation or national pride, the teacher didn't care - and more importantly, all the students looked aghast. Thus do we perpetuate ignorance, and I argue that not understanding properly is just as bad as purposeful manipulation of history, like that of the Japanese about WWII history. oh, Kinderporno is brilliant. My history teachers has always been much above average and I've read a lot of history (and still read) so I don't know if my take on subject is somewhat "false", but IMO we learn in finnish schools all you must to understand why Hitler's cause became success. If you're willing to learn that is. Of course, there wasn't Germany ( in way it's talked about nowadays) before Bismarck so "complete" history is not that big How can it be a no ob build.
