Reveilled Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 The first face on Channel 4 is dead at 61. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/t...dio/4625347.stm Hawk! Eggplant! AWAKEN!
SteveThaiBinh Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 I liked him, and the programme. Countdown was always on when I got home from school - the music became a trigger for the 'school is finally over' feeling. I wonder if they'll keep showing the pre-recorded ones this week. Walsingham Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 My favourite moment has to be the point when a young university graduate on Countdown tried to use the word 'sodomy' to score points, and they had to let him have it, because it is in the dictionary. Absolute gold. I bet they don't show it though. And yes, he was a very English idiot. I dare say he will be genuinely missed, in a weird way. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
Darth Flatus Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 not by me, i used to watch cbbc/citv when i got home from school in the 80's and 90's.

SteveThaiBinh Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Pneumonia + heart surgery. It was a surprise, though - apparently he appeared to be recovering well. Was a pre-recorded Countdown broadcast today? (I don't have a TV) "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
Reveilled Posted June 27, 2005 Author Posted June 27, 2005 I went to my Grandparents' house after school, and with there only being one TV, I watched Countdown and 15 to 1 instead of the usual kids programs. Richard Whitely was a nice, friendly guy. TV won't be the same without him. Hawk! Eggplant! AWAKEN!
metadigital Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Countdown is one of the last brain-gym-type tv programmes left. (Just look at that tragic Dcikhead and Dom remake of the Generation Game. ) I am yet to get a nine-letter word ... OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Hildegard Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 The first face on Channel 4 is dead at 61. [/url] <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Requietat in pace........
><FISH'> Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 **** and Dom is shameful. The weakest link is funny. Theres nothing more amusing than watching Ann Robinson shouting at a 60 year old lady.
