Well I'm a little strange in this sense .. I love useless information! o:)

Did you know that bodies decompose much slower today than, say, 50 years ago?? well that's because of the large amount of conserver chemicals (what ever they are called in english) in our foods!

or that the urban legend "you swallow 8 spiders a year" is actually a myth started by a reporter?? (iirc she was trying to document how fast such "facts" spread)

your turn!

Poor lime on your bodies to have them decompose faster. This will help keep unwanted authorities from having a body to tie you to the crime

well Laozi .. I'll remember that next time I have a body to dispose! last time was such a pain in the *** ..

Before the invention of anesthesia, speed was a highly regarded trait in a surgeon. Dr. Robert Liston of London was among the fastest. But, speed comes with some cost. In one particular operation, Liston killed three people. The patient actually survived, but later died of gangrene. During the operation, Liston accidentally cut of the fingers of his surgical assistant, who soon died from an infection. Liston even managed to slash through the coattails of a colleague who was observing the operation - he was so sure that his vital organs had been punctured that he died of fright!

(I must admit I cheated with this one .. since I found it on a website, but I thought it was funny enough to include nonetheless)

and then a useless bonus info bit:

I read, back in 97, that you swallow 28% of the toothpaste you use ..

Lets be honest here, you are asking a bunch of geeks and nerds for what useless information they have?

o:) (w00t) >_<

This could go on forever.

Electrons can exist in two places at once. if you fire a stream of single electrons through a cathode ray tube at regular intervals, say 1 every second, passing through a slit the size of the electron, the electron acts in the same way as a beam of light passing through a gap of its wavelength, and splits. appearing in two places.

Therefore electrons are particles and waves at the same time. I have seen this. it is true. beats me though.

I once farted the first three notes to 2001 a space oddessy at a busstop. it was a magical moment, unfortunately the only one to share it with was a 70 yr old woman, and I don't think she was a music lover by the expression on her face.

You can draw continuous line on a piece of paper without removing the tip, and covering BOTH sides, with the line meeting up at the beginning . Simply take a length of paper, say 12 inches by half an inch twist it once then join the ends in a loop. Good old Professor Mobius.

If you stand Norway up on its end and let it fall in a southerly direction, the northern tip would land on Morocco.

Alligators have no biologically programmed death. They die of disease or trauma, starvation and environmental conditions, but not old age it is concievable that alligators exist which have done so since prehistoric times.

Houston, Tx consumes more bourbon whiskey then the entire Eastcoast of the united states. Also in a completely unrelated fact Houston has been awarded the title "Fattest City in America" the last two years

Or I guess it was "Most Overweight City" for the sake of being more PC

A well known fact among Pathologists is that under the right circumstances, the fumes given off by bodies in some states of decay, act as a stimulant if inhaled in sufficient amounts. It is not uncommon for pathologists to experience lighter euphoric effects from this while performing an autopsy.

but the oldest country is San Marino (301 AD)

then France (486 AD) but this date is much debated .. as some claim that France as an entity was first formed in 843, and some claim that France first became the country it is in 1789 (the revolution)

and then Denmark (950 AD)

this is actually a little strange .. any website I visit says Denmark is the oldest, but doint a little research I found this:

the danish monarchy started with Gorm the old who died in 940 AD (we aren't 100% sure when he first became king)..

but it says that the Japanese Monarchy started in 660 BC with Jimmu ..

strange .. it seems Japanese is much much older .. so how come every website list us as oldest? :p

I know what you mean, but in English the signs of the Zodiac have special words, e.g. Twin = Gemini, Lion = Leo etc.

I thought of one! The Vietnamese for 'complicated' is phuc tap.

So you could say the situation in Iraq now is phuc tap.

Oh yeah V'signs were mentioned.

The english V-sign, bak of hand facing towards the recipent fingers raised comes from the Hundred years war. As the English were famous for their longbowmen, the French soldiers would be paid a bonus if they cut the first two fingers of an archers right hands off, thus rendering them useless.

The sign became used in battle as a symbol of defiance, i.e. 'come on then, take em if you're 'ard enough'
