All right, what's up with all the Transformer stuff going around? In the last 24 hours I've seen Devastator and the Autobot and Decepticon emblems in people's signature. Don't make me break out my Snake-Eyes avatar and have a G.I.Joe vs. Transformers avatar/image/signature battle with y'all!

Well, it's either that or I break out an Ultra Magnus avatar and join the fun. :D

Boo urns.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

I weep also...

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the galaxy. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips. I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my viens. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk, and free throw. I am there.

Bring it. GI Joe is cool and all, but Snake Eyes is really the only cool one for the Joe side. Transformers are just cooler to look at. When it comes to the show, I prefer GI Joe.

Though I do find it funny that 3 joes can take on 50 or 60 Cobra troops.

What was the name of the little yellow VW bug guy?

Bumblebee. Later became Goldbug.

Goldbug sucked. Bumblebee was so awesomely useless.

I'm more of a Voltron man, but I can't lie, I loved the old transformers

People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.

I didn't mind the second season onward for Beast Wars.  Dinobot was pretty cool.

Yeah, but they went and killed him.

I was also pissed at the throwaway deaths of Terrasaur and Scorponok. 2 second clip at the beginning of the 2nd season. Lame.

For transforms Macross (Robotech if you prefer), with his Valkiries

I take it English isn't your first language.

Anyway the Valkyrie toys are the greatest transformer-type toys ever.

Oh man, do I have fond memories of GI Joe and Transformers and Voltron.

Some random memories are

1. I remember almost pissing my pants in excitement when the Aerial Bots were introduced. They look like awesome fighter planes! And the combine into a huge robot!(I forget the name, but remember he had this high screeching voice) Correct me of I'm wrong, but Optimus Prime created the Aerial Bots to combat the evil car Decepticons right? And the leader of the Aerial Bots was afraid of heights right?

I actually pissed myself in excitement one of my friends actually got the entire Aerial Bot set for Christmas...lucky bastard.

2. The coolest GI Joe I can remember is Snake Eyes and Stormshadow. Probably because they were both ninjas which are automatically cool. Out of curiosity Stormshadow was originally a member of Cobra, but then I remember all of the sudden his outfit changed from white to white and grey and he was classified as a member of GI Joe. What's up with that? I never did find out.

3. Ahh, voltron. As the five tigers they usually got their butts kicked by whatever new evil robotic menace the evil overgrown smurfs had built. But when they combined into Voltron and formed the BLAZING SWORD, they were toast. I remember thinking to myself, Evil Robots! Attack when Voltron is combining! He takes virtually forever, why don't you attack? I got my answer one day when one of the evil robots DID attack! Ha! The evil robot was struck back by the immensely powerful electrical field that surrounded Voltron, keeping him from harm! I should have known!

Two questions, I have a vague memory that the original pilot of Blue Lion was not the Princess but someone else....anyone know? Also there was another Voltron too. Not nearly as cool as the Lion Voltron. Is this a Voltron from another time or what? On the other side of the Galaxy Voltron?

Heh. Thanks for the great nostalgia trip people.

I had one of those! I also had the Voltron five Lion set. Probably the best toys I ever had. I also had frikken huge Millenium Falcon toy. WHY did I give that away! WHY?

I don't think they make toys like they used too.

1. They combined into Superion. Silverbolt was the Concorde who was afraid of heights. Incidently, Jetfire was the first flying Autobot (and one of my all-time faves). He was called Skyfire in the cartoons, and was a pacifist instead of the warrior-scientist of the toy. Jetfire was a repaint of some Robotech toy, as well.

2. Tommy Arishikage, aka Storm Shadow, joined Cobra after being framed for the death of the Hard Master of the Arishikage ninja clan. He originally went under to find the true killer, who was Zartan, but ended up being mind-controlled. When freed, he did join the Joes to help his sword-brother, Snake-Eyes (whose name is never revealed, BTW), and trained Cobra Commander's son Billy in the Arishikage ways.

Wow, my curiosity about Storm Shadow is sated! Is there a way I can somehow watch those old cartoons. That would be awesome. Just a day watching old GI Joe and Transformer cartoons, eating cereal until I'm sick.

I would buy the DVDs if they have them, hmm I'll go check.

They are releasing them on DVDs. These are the uncensored ones from the early 80s. Most of this info, though, you won't find in the cartoons. I would recommend hunting for the G.I.Joe comics written by Larry Hama and published by Marvel Comics (you can get them all pretty cheap), and picking up with the new series by Devil's Due Comics. The Joe comics were a lot better than the cartoons, and I enjoyed the cartoons (heck, I have the first two movies on special edition DVDs).

Thanks for the info deganawida. I do remember reading some Joe comics when I was in middle school. I was at a party and discovered my friend had this entire box full of them.

So instead of partying I secluded myself from everyone and spent the entire day reading them. Needless to say I was quickly pointed out as a nerd who would rather read comics than party but school popularity be damned, those comics were fun. I remember them being quite visceral, with people actually get hit by the guns and dying! Something the cartoons didn't show.

I'm gonna have to check them out again.
