Okay now in KOTOR too many skills were useless- awareness being the most pointless of all, there being no stealthed enemies for you to see.

But now it seems every skill has a great use

Awareness- used in conversations

Repair- to build upgrades

Treat injury- to determine your characters regeneration rate.

Security- to hack into terminals and access new side-quests.

Persuade- to keep party-members alligned with you.

Demoltions- have been said to add damage to grenades and mines.

computer use- to access more information for xp

stealth- you can see conversations/cutscenes you wouldn't normally

Now if all these skills are important how can we possibly get high ratings on any of them if we need them all? In KOTOR you could ignore security (just bash doors), awareness (useless anyway) and demolitions (you can heal yourself after setting off a mine easily).

It seems TSL will have too many skills we actually want, so we will end up splitting skill points between all 8, and then not being high enough in any of them to actually make full use of them.

I only hope we get a LOT of skill points. More than 8 per level or we'll never get anywhere with the skills. Looks like Sentinel will become more valuable.

What do you think?

im just gonna try a few each play through.

i wonder if you give your party more awareness if theyll detect youre lying or goin down the dark path more easily

the force is what gives a jedi his power. its an energy field created by all living things. it surrounds us and penetrates us. it binds the galaxy together

Thats a good point.

Kreia: "You must have devotion to the lightside."

Exile: [persuade/lie] "Don't worry. I will not fall."

Kreia: [awareness] "You lie."

That would be interesting.

That is a trick from the devs called "" choose sentinels'''' and ''''add replay value''''' and '''use T3M4 and other technology adepts'''''

There is hope beyond hope

It is a little concerning, but i think that it also gives more replay value. Think of it, next time you play you'll choose other areas of expertise and see the stuff you missed your first time through.

Besides, i really don't think that they haven't thought of that so it'll be alright i think.

Yeah it will add to replyability so it will be fun. But it will also limit the xp we can gain if we can only hack logs or repair things. That will make it harder to reach beyond level 20.

But if Bao-dur is a good fighter his tech specialist class will make him a usefull companion to do minor skill work. Some skill checks are pc only though.

It is not necessary to give all skills to the PC, some can be given to NPCs (e.g. demolition, computer, security). This will make NPCs much more valuable :)

I don't think he is a good fighter, in most screenshots he uses a quarterstaff and yes that is pathetic

Not just a quarterstaff, but a supermodified galatic quaterstaff :)

Anyway if he's a puss then I'll turn him into a ranged weapon fighter like I did with everyone but the jedis and thew wookie

People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.

Yeah it looks like we will have to replay this game alot more to see everything, Just to think I have not even fully repaired Hk yet.

This is going to be a great December :)

The only important thing about the skills is that you get enough to pay the bills

Sorry couldn't resist :)

You can even level up an NPCs persuade and use them to talk instaed. I won't do it but its an option. The devs have said that you can do all that, the conversations will be different if you use an NPC instead of the PC...

Forgive me but you seem to be worrying about one of the most important part of any role playing game, and that is meaningful choices.

Forget for a moment about replay value and just look at it from a gameplay standpoint.

If a character is all things to all situations or has cheese workarounds then what is the point of character development? In a good RPG, the player (you) should constantly be involved in making meaningful and HARD choices. If I take this I cannot take that, if I do this I cannot do that ect.... These choices should NOT simply occur during character creation but constantly throughout the game. That is what makes the game fun and allows different people to have completely different experiences in the same game.

In addition think of the great arguments that will occur over, "my build is better" "No mine is you fool!" "My char could wax yours's butt" "Haa Haa I would so own Joo" :)

The devs simply have to be careful that no matter how you develop/build your character (short of the moronic) you cannot "dead end" them leaving the game unfinishable.

Anyhow, my 2cents on the subject.

All the skills listed in the Star Wars d20 PnP game.  Hello, McFly!  Sheesh, do I have to explain everything to you guys?

Since I do not play PnP, it would be nice if someone would list the skills. Nothing wrong with explinations. Why do find it so wrong to explain? Apparrently not everyone plays PnP, so what. There is nothing wrong with that. That is what makes this world interesting. If there were something wrong in asking questions, then we would not know anything. So please, do not get frustrated when honest questions come up.

Its not that hard if you do a lil' research on the subject. ;)

Its pretty much the same in the ones in the NWN game for a point of reference, if you played that, but more geared for Science FIction/Star Wars.

True. Never played NWN. I just do not have the time, or the patientce, to research. Oh and thanks Carr0t for that list, man that is long.
